Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS Discussion

How come nobody seems to care that Smash is finally coming to a handheld? Is it because everyone saw Sticker Star and thought any console series on a handheld would immediately suck?

I can't wait for both versions. I'll play the hell out of the WiiU version but the 3DS version will allow me to play in 3D without hooking up my Wii U plus I can take it on the go.

But in all serious [though I was serious above for me], I am not really looking forward to the 3DS version. I know that "it has as much memory as 64/Gamecube/whatever comparison nowadays". But does the 3DS have anywhere close to the memory of a Wii U game? No.

What will bother me are the graphics. Some like Rosie I'll be okay with, but many of them are just...it doesn't look right. I already dislike the 3DS' graphics because it just looks so pixilated and edgy. Only series that originated on handhelds seem to pull off that look the best.

I think the biggest thing for me is dealing with size and the fighting. On consoles, Smash bros. have no trouble seeing your characters and stuff. But on a handheld, they are going to have to zoom everything down so that they can show everything. They can either make it to where the characters are small as heck, or zoom in on their character, but compromise by not showing the full stage and possible items you'll miss seeing.

I'm sure it'll be a great game. I'm sure that I'll love it to when I get it. However, I just know that the Wii U version is going to be the superior version imho. Sakurai has alerady shown that with all the daily posts and most of them being centered around the Wii U version.

For me Smash just feels at home on a console, and the only I'll get the 3DS one is because my mate doesn't have a Wii U.

well personally i like eevee more so i wouldnt mind too much.

I like Eevee and all but I always found it to be a bad choice for Smash. The only thing that would make it interesting (Eeveelutions) would take nine times as long to make as a normal character. I see no reason to use that much time on someone who is far from a necessary addition,

Considering how many people are obsessed with Eeveelutions, I wouldn't be surprised if one day that will happen.

That's the only way I can see Eevee working, with the Eeveelutions

yeah im aware, i just dont like jiggly very much.

I feel like there is better pokemon out there to be used in the roster, but of course thats just my opinion, as im sure plenty of people love jiggly.

I won't complain about you wanting Jigglypuff out. But if Eevee were to be considered. I assume you want Eevee's evolutions to be a big deal as a part of the moveset. Even if Eevee had the capability of transforming into all 7 or so evolutions that's the equivalent of making 7 or more characters in one. In a roster like SSB4's that will probably be around almost 49 characters including transformations and/or more then one character. Eevee would take up an entire 1/7 of the roster. Eevee would be even more complicated then those who want Masked Link from Majora's Mask to be playable if you want to include all the evolutions Eevee has.

You Mean Mario Kart (Super Circuit)? Because that's the only handheld that was absolutely unplayable for me.

Anyways, I still don't see why people are upset about a character they like being an Assist Trophy. It means they are in the game, with a full 3D model, looking good as ever, yet instead of being happy people are like "WAAH not playable!!!11!one"

I'll always blame the 3DS version (yes, I don't care they haven't been released) for refraining Smash Bros. 4 from being the best Super Smash Bros. ever. For what we know, it will be as good as Brawl, but not better (although the best, to me, is Melee). If they focused on just ONE game, it would be better. All characters would return, more features would be implemented, etc.

Also, I never understood WHY they're even making a 3DS version. Aren't they supposed to be trying to sell the Wii U? If I have a 3DS but not a Wii U, I won't buy the Wii U version. Now, if only the Wii U version existed, they would be practically forcing me to buy a Wii U to be able to play the game.
