Pic of the day. Pac-Man's up taunt is known as Namco Roulette! Namco characters from the 1980s will randomly appear.

See? There's a variety of characters. Huh? One of them looks pretty recent.

I knew it was a taunt. An amazing taunt at that.

The recent character is Don-chan from the Taiko no Tatsujin series. He appeared as a guest in Mario Kart: Arcade GP DX as a guest character along with Pac-Man.

Oh, by the way! I'd like to reveal a new challenger. Instead of doing the unveiling on something like a Nintendo Direct, we're going to live-stream the reveal on the official website on Monday, July 14, at 7:00 AM US Pacific Time (4:00 PM European Central Time). Looks like we're nearing the bottom of the stash of new challenger videos that we've made... Like always, we put a lot of effort into it, so I hope you'll enjoy watching it live.

They're setting up an entire love stream just for a three minute video reveal of a new character. They have to use an insanely popular and highly request character. Someone like Dasiy, Sceptile, or even Chrom probably isn't enough to generate hype.

But Ridley, Shulk or K. Rool? That's hype right there.

We already have a lot of Pokemon and Mario characters. Newcomers from other series should have more priority, like Metroid, Golden Sun, or Xenoblade.

Actually we don't have that much Mario and Pokemon characters. Mario is a very huge franchise. It isn't greedy to want Daisy, Bowser Jr, and Toad all to come in. Mario deserves those 8 slots. I've seen people use means to justify 20 Mario Slots in a 50 Characters roster by pointing out that Mario makes up about 21/50 of all Nintendo game sales and the 21st slot is borrowed by Yoshi who doesn't sell well enough to earn his own spot. Using that same method gives Pokemon 10 slots which I disagree with since only Sceptile is needed which would make it 5. Not that I agree with the idea Mario needs that many because it doesn't have that many characters unless you branch out into the RPGs which don't have a good character supply. It also isn't greedy to want to have the Starter trio completed seeing as it is a logical pattern that exists and that it was present in Brawl and Sceptile especially because it could promote the upcoming AS/OR games. I see no reason why characters shouldn't be allowed in for the sole fact that their series already has a lot of Characters.

Daisy, Bowser Jr. and Toad aren't happening. Daisy is just a spinoff character and isn't major enough to justify a spot on the roster. Bowser Jr has the closest chance of getting in, but we already have 5 Mario characters. As for Toad, he was deconfirmed the minute he was shown as one of Peach's moves.
