Unlike some people, I play more than just Mario games and I'd like to see other franchises represented besides Mario (Pokemon and Zelda as well). Seriously, games like Rhythm heaven, Golden sun, and Xenoblade deserve to be recognized. Metroid also needs more than just two characters.

We need more females. There's like 25% of the roster are females.
Also we need more Pokemon reps.

We already have a lot of Pokemon and Mario characters. Newcomers from other series should have more priority, like Metroid, Golden Sun, or Xenoblade.

Actually we don't have that much Mario and Pokemon characters. Mario is a very huge franchise. It isn't greedy to want Daisy, Bowser Jr, and Toad all to come in. Mario deserves those 8 slots. I've seen people use means to justify 20 Mario Slots in a 50 Characters roster by pointing out that Mario makes up about 21/50 of all Nintendo game sales and the 21st slot is borrowed by Yoshi who doesn't sell well enough to earn his own spot. Using that same method gives Pokemon 10 slots which I disagree with since only Sceptile is needed which would make it 5. Not that I agree with the idea Mario needs that many because it doesn't have that many characters unless you branch out into the RPGs which don't have a good character supply. It also isn't greedy to want to have the Starter trio completed seeing as it is a logical pattern that exists and that it was present in Brawl and Sceptile especially because it could promote the upcoming AS/OR games. I see no reason why characters shouldn't be allowed in for the sole fact that their series already has a lot of Characters.

Just because you like Mario doesn't mean it needs 8 characters.

For the Legend of Zelda Series. Mario has 8 extremely major CHaracters all of which should be in. I want them to Complete The Mario Party 3 and Mario Kart 64 Team and also finally add Bowser Jr.

Bowser Jr. isn't really that relevant anymore. If he was going to be in Smash Bros., he would have been in Brawl.

Also, saying that there are little character trailers let's me know that there is probably only three left (Shulk, Chrom, Choir Boys).

This is the first time on the official website. The first time outside of a Nintendo Direct was during the Super Smash Bros. Q&A at E3 with Pac-Man. A veteran MAY be revealed at EVO now on Sunday, but we will likely just get a reminder of the trailer and a small hint at who the newcomer may be.

While it would be cool to have Toad in some form (Even if they have to have Captain Toad as DLC or something to promote the new game). I don't think they necessarily have to complete certain games until all the characters have a certain merit. Toad is probably one that probably should have enough merit. But Waluigi and Daisy don't because for the exception of Super Mario Land in regards to Daisy (Which could have been very well has been Peach, so I don't know why Super Mario Land is enough for Daisy to get in). Waluigi actually's gained more merit then Daisy because he's at least been basically put in the honorable mentions practically as an Assist Trophy. But regardless, he's still an Assist Trophy. While Daisy has been nothing more then a palette swap, trophy, and/or sticker in Melee and Brawl ever since Peach was included.

If you want any character to blame for why characters like Toad or Daisy have not get in. Look at Peach, not Rosalina. Because not only Peach still has Toad as her Meat Shield as one of her moves, but including Daisy even if the Special Moves are as different as Lucas was to Ness or Wolf to Fox. She'd likely have her dress, and thus be considered a Peach clone. And at least Lucas and Wolf have something over Daisy: They're more important to their series as a whole then Daisy ever was to the Mario series. Daisy would be a bad choice for both being at most a semi-clone (You can make her unique, but will Sakurai and/or Nintendo bother to do that when it'd make it so much easier?) and someone not entirely necessary.

Anyway on-topic. I've been watching Chuggaaconroy's let's play of Xenoblade Chronicles. So that if Shulk is indeed a character. I actually at least saw his story so I'll at least be a little familiar with him. Even if I probably won't be getting the game. (Even if I wanted it, I hear it's too rare and more expensive then most games are). I'll be happy for any Xenoblade fans though if/when he's confirmed.

What's wrong with Shulk? I'm not a Xenoblade fan myself, but even then he could be an exciting newcomer for fans and non-fans alike. Because while he'd be another sword-wielder. The Monado is different from most of the other swords used by Pit, Marth, Ike, Both Links, and the Mii Swordsman.

I don't personally care too much for Fire Emblem characters. But that doesn't mean I want them all cut.

I'm fairly confident he'll be the one revealed Monday though, and even if he isn't I'm certain he's going to be in.

if you don't care for something, that doesn't mean it shouldn't be in smash; when i go through a pokemon game, i've never picked the water starter cause i just don't care for it, yet i'm ok with greninja being in smash

So true. I'm not a Daisy hater, but she should not be in Smash. The reasons Rosalina got in over her are:

1. Rosalina has appeared in three main series titles and was playable in the most recent, while Daisy appeared in Super Mario land as a damsel-in-distress.
2. While both characters are similar in design to Peach, Rosalina is the more different of the two.
3. Daisy was brought back from obscurity to give Peach a partner in spin-offs. Rosalina was created for Mario to have a guide in Super Mario Galaxy and to add depth to the game's story.
4. Speaking of story, Rosalina has a deep and thought out backstory. Daisy is a princess from Sarasaland.
5. Rosalina represents Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2. Daisy would represent one very old game that she has little ties to now and the spin-off games, which would be better represented by Waluigi or Toad.
6. While I do believe that Daisy could have a different moveset, her physique is still very similar to Peach. Rosalina's physique is different from Peach in several ways (mostly her tall size).
7. While Daisy has appeared in more Mario Kart games, Rosalina appeared along with her as a hidden playable character in Mario Kart Wii, the best-selling Mario Kart game, the second best-selling game for the Wii, the second best-selling Mario game of all time, and the third best-selling physical game of all time, and the fifth best-selling game overall.
