Why would Snake not be in the main game but still appear as DLC?

I would be fine with the roster if Duck Hunt Dog, Dark Pit, Dr. Mario, and Bowser Jr. were DLC and those 5 (Minus Chorus Men) that are supposedly DLC were in-game.

Also to be honest. I don't get why making characters with actual movesets like Ice Climbers and Snake DLC but characters like Dr. Mario and Dark Pit are there in-game already. I would think that they would be the DLC instead of the other way around... (And probably the far better option, those who don't want Dr. Mario or Dark Pit could choose not to get the DLC. Those who wouldn't mind them can get them.)

Impa and Ganon are practically the only Zelda newcomer options left.

I still don't see how Ganon is much of an option. He's Ganondorf's final smash, and while they did change Pit's to allow Palutena, I doubt that they'll make Ganon a separate character.

Impa and Toon Zelda are probably the more likely newcomers, if Zelda series gets one.

But Zelda both doesn't deserve and probably will not get a newcomer. Though if I were in control of the roster, I'd cut Sheik and Toon Link in favor of Tingle and Impa to give Zelda a solid 5 Character sub-roster.

Something of note is that Sakurai has had the intention to cut a character thrice throughout the series:

Ness in Melee (He was going to be replaced by Lucas)
Pichu in Brawl
Young Link in Brawl (He was replaced by Toon Link)

So we can probably only expect a few intentional cuts while the rest will be due to time.

The rest don't make it to 10 million except Wii which I've chosen to exclude to to its unpopularity within the Smash fanbase.

I wasn't. I was just surprised that the Mario RPGs have outsold the Star Fox series.

I guess you could say that the second sentence was an argument back, but I do think that it is true.

TP Beast Ganon would be the final smash for the Dorf. Classic blue pig Ganon from the original, Link to the Past, etc, would be playable.

TP Beast Ganon would be the final smash for the Dorf. Classic blue pig Ganon from the original, Link to the Past, etc, would be playable.

This. Ganon would give us another villain and represent the Fallen Hero Timeline.
