True, the clones obviously took some development time, but they aren't the same development time. The developers had a deadline to meet, and roster decisions have been already made. The deadline is established because people can wait for only so long, developers have limited energy and resources to dedicate their time to making this game. The developers weren't like, "Oh, we're about to do Mewtwo, but screw that, let's do Dark Pit instead".Anser said:I have no proof because while it may not be a fact, it's how I feel about the subject. My beef about clones is that the development time they took (while I'm very aware it's not the same as the one that developing a full new character would take) could have been used on something far more productive like adding another character. It's also because I think they're just cheap additions. The game may very well be the same without them. They're just fillers in the roster and they just make it look bad and lazily made. "If you don't like them, don't use them" you say? That doesn't apply for me. It BOTHERS me to see them there. I'm sure the time they took to develop Dark Pit, Dr. Mario and Lucina could have been used to develop Mewtwo, Ridley or another actually requested character (I exclude Lucina from this, because I know she was requested a lot).
It's okay to express your opinion strongly on such things. I think the way you're lashing at the clones and the developers is misguided, though.Anser said:Of course I am. I take full responsibility for my actions. I'm acting butthurt because I am butthurt, and I'd like to see who wouldn't be after losing their main character for the SECOND time in a row. In Brawl I lost Mewtwo, and in Smash 4 not only I didn't have him back (after being told I may, mind you), but I also lost my Brawl main, which was Lucas. There may be people in my situation who would react differently, and I congratulate them for that, but this is the way I am and I won't act differently just so people won't talk about it. I'm sorry if I annoy some people with my attitude, but there's the Ignore option available 24/7.
Brawl feels much floatier. I used mostly Mario in the demo and Link just once. I can't say about Link, but Mario's aerials feel much faster and they feel more effective this time around. The fast-falling is more noticeable, and Mario's momentum when using f-air feels more mobile fluid compared to Brawl. He doesn't feel like he sucks as much.Anser said:I don't get how people feel it faster than Brawl, but that's just me. I played around seven matches and I swear I felt it like Brawl. I haven't played Brawl in some months, though, so that may be a reason, but I definitely didn't feel it fresh as I expected.

As I said, the developers weren't torn between choosing Mewtwo and Dr. Mario and decided to go with Dr. Mario. It's more like, "Oh hey look, here's the roster, the priorities are on the newcomers and the majority of the veterans. Maybe Mewtwo should return? I don't know... he's not too high on our priority and he takes too much time to develop; besides we have too many Gen 1 Pokemon already. Oh well... fans are probably going to be displeased about it, but he's going to be gone still.Anser said:I think this is the heart of my anger. What I want to know is WHY. WHY did they decide to add Dark Pit. WHY did they decide to bring Dr. Mario back from Melee instead of Mewtwo. I want to know their reasons. I want to know what they were thinking. All I need is an explanation. If Sakurai went out and said "We didn't add Mewtwo because of time constraints" I would calm down just a little because at least then I would have a reason, even though I would still be mad if that was the reason because it would be the third *bleep*ing time Mewtwo is left out for a lack of time.
A reasonable thought process would be "We can't program in the Ice Climbers, but we can't strip them of their uniqueness. Ugh... they're quite important on Nintendo's obscure parts, but after all this time trying to figure out how they work, we just can't have them in." The 3DS can process the Luma as well as Rosalina because Luma doesn't have its own moveset; it's not a separate player the way Nana is.Anser said:Another thing that bothers me to no end is the absence of the Ice Climbers. I never used them, but I always praised their unique, original fighting style and they were some of the most interesting characters in the roster. I do know that they were left out because the 3DS wouldn't "process" them, but, didn't they think of how unfair that is? Take me as an example. Imagine my mains were the Ice Climbers. I don't have a 3DS, nor am I planning to buy one, so I'm never going to have the 3DS version of the game. I am waiting for the Wii U version, and then, surprise! Your mains are gone because an inferior version you're not even going to play couldn't handle your characters. I mean, what the actual *bleep*?? I don't give a dang about the 3DS version, I'm getting the Wii U version, which CAN handle my characters!! Why do I have to lose them because of the other version? It's unacceptable and it doesn't make sense at all. Even weirder is that the 3DS CAN handle Rosalina and Luma (not that I'm complaining, as she's my favorite newcomer and the sole reason I'm still planning on getting the game someday).
The saddest part about the Ice Climbers thing is that they won't be exclusive to the Wii U version, because Sakurai already said that both versions must have the same roster "in order to keep them consistent". It's a bunch of bad roster decisions what have me so disappointed and reluctant to buy the game on release day. At this point, right now, I can't really say I care about it anymore at all...

Sakurai said:Pic of the day. These two are a haunting pair. You can only attack Gastly using items, but the Ghost has a perfect guard and reflects your attacks. When you see a Ghost, make sure you use your grab. If you're playing with Diddy Kong, his Monkey Flip should work, too.
Sakurai said:Announcement: Originally, the pic of the day was only supposed to continue for about two months, but I've ended up posting pictures until even today. The 3DS version has already been released in Japan, so I would like to talk about how future posts will be handled.
First, I will not talk about hidden features until the game is released overseas. On the other hand, I definitely will talk about them after the game is released abroad.
In addition, I am planning to continue making posts at least until the Wii U version is released. I haven't decided if I'll go by the Japanese version release or the release of versions abroad, but the point is that I'll continue posting for a little bit longer.
Pic of the day won't focus on introducing new information anymore in the near future, but I hope to entertain you with interesting and funny photos like I originally intended to. Thanks.

There's also a "don't post here" option available 24/7. I mean, if all you're going to do is *bleep* about this game and be butthurt without even giving it a try and not even thinking that maybe some of the new characters will be good and that the clones didn't take your characters that were cut for obviously good reasons, then you're better off not posting anymore.
Because if you're just going to constantly whine and complain about certain characters being in and not characters you wanted, than you're just going to end up seeming like 3D Player.
"It seems they were running in the Wii U version, but due to the required hardware power, the team couldnt make them work in the 3DS game. There wasnt as high a priority given to series that are unlikely to have another installment at this time."

Oh, I was going to request this but Nana being default.Northern Verve said:Yeah, I think the least they could of done was make Ice Climbers into Ice Climber
Make Popo the default, buff him alot from how he is without Nana in Melee & Brawl. Make Nana an alt similar to Wii Fit Trainer & Robin. It wouldn't be the same, but at least they'd be in the game one way or another.
