Pic of the day. For the first time ever in the Super Smash Bros. series, you can play with a collection of real-life trophies in the form of amiibo. Simply touch them on this part of the GamePad. This particular screen is dedicated to activating amiibo, but you can also tap your amiibo on the GamePad at the character-selection screen to let that character join the battle.

Once you do, the trophy of your amiibo character transforms into a Figure Player (FP)!! FPs fight and develop on their own.

I don't know but it seems like a strange choice to release that game with Pokémon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby at the same day. I am buying both but I am sure some people can't afford both at the same time.

Of course it comes out the day I'll be leaving for a two-day basketball tournament. Why must you torture me with a wait, Sakurai? :'(

As much as I want to get the Wii U version day one too, I'm most likely going to have to wait until around Christmas.

Is it bad that I'd rather wanna collect Amiibo's just because they're actual neat action figures instead of being used in Smash?

Got the chance to play this today. What the fuck is UP with Sakurai making all the characters so freaking easy to unlock? This is an insult to Melee. I thought Brawl was bad at this, but come on, this is ridiculous. 120 battles and I have everyone? Come ON, Sakurai. You might as well not put any unlockable characters the next time.

Personally I'm fine with them being relatively easy to unlock this time around. There's so many characters in the game compared to how Melee had much less. Plus the Melee unlocks were annoying. Seriously, I know you could unlock Mewtwo by just leaving your gamecube on all night long. But that doesn't get rid of the fact that it's a rather ridiculous unlock method for one character.

I insist that I am very underwhelmed by this game. Maybe it's because I don't like to play it on a small screen (and I played it on a 3DS XL, mind you). Overall I don't think this is as ground-breaking as they meant it to be. I'll just keep waiting for the Wii U version. Dat HD, tho.

The best thing about the 3DS version will always remain the portability. Having a Smash Bros. game available to play not matter where you are is amazing because with how fun Smash Bros. is to replay even compared to most games. Suddenly waiting doesn't seem so bad as long as you have your 3DS with you. While it may not be quite as solid to play as the console games since you are basically required to get used to seeing it on a smaller screen, and a different control scheme. It's still a solid Smash Bros. game in it's own right that looks and feels great.

It's not the game itself that's the groundbreaking part of it anyway. It's having Smash Bros. on the go that's truly what the 3DS offers. And I personally plan on continuing to play the 3DS version when I'm away at home even after the Wii U version is released.

Oh and by the way, as expected, Rosalina is the best fighter in the game. I had a very hard time getting used to her weird fighting style, but once I got the hang of it, I loved her. She's so unique. And that elegant black and gold dress, man. She just rules. By the way, I have a spoiler for the next Smash Bros game, guys:

She's getting cut in the next Smash game. Why? Because she's my main. Mark my words.

I think it's just a bit of bad luck with Mewtwo and Lucas, Answer. Mewtwo couldn't come back due to Time constraints in Brawl. And as much as it would of been preferable to have both Ness and Lucas return, Ness had seniority on his side in Smash 4 in the case if they shrunk the MOTHER representation. I think Rosalina has a good chance to return next game simply because she's a Mario rep. Mewtwo just happens to be a casualty of the Pokemon representation that has been the most liberal with it's representation by far (I don't think any franchise in Smash can say they had a total of FOUR characters that were playable in Smash get cut. (Mewtwo, Pichu, Ivysaur, and Squirtle)). But for the exception of Dr. Mario (Which as we know, returned in Smash 4 anyway) None of the Mushroom symbol characters have been cut thus far. Probably helps that Rosalina's basically being promoted to a main character already.

Oh wow, North America get the Wii U version before Japan does? And 2 weeks just like it was with the 3DS version but in reverse too.

I feel bad for european fans though. They still get it before Japan does. But only by one day.

So, new Amiibo!

Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Captain Falcon, Pit, Little Mac, and Bowser!

That's sweet. I'm still hoping they can manage to allow for the 3rd Parties to get Amiibos. I'm not entirely that interested in Amiibos, but if a Sonic one was announced. I'd definitely want it.

wow those will be tricky to stand up

They have trophy stands below them. They'll be fine to stand up.

I have unlocked everyone now and completed the full all star mode with Robin earlier (thank you nosferatu for getting me through it)

I just discovered Zuntata made some arrangements for this game

ffffffffffffffff

Nah, I do too. Not going to be able to do that, though.

what even is the point of amiibo though

like, didn't they show some functionality as... computers... that you can level up?

idk i don't get why anyone would want to pay money to watch a character play for you
