Brawl Mod: Project M (Doesn't require hacking your Wii/Wii U!)

So I have a question regarding Project M, and that is: If I already have mods on my Brawl (I have some sounds replaced, custom characters and stages, etc) can I still use Project M properly? Will my mods show up in PM or will I have to copy stuff in order to get them working?

Apologies if this has already been addressed, I didn't really feel like reading through several pages of posts.

Yes, if it doesn't work correctly the first time just remove your mods from the SD card after backing them up on your computer (or just rename the folder they're in if the files are quite large) and it should work fine.

I wonder if we'll be able to use this on the new smash.

of course not, the new smash runs on a completely new engine and new filensmes

Project M U and Project M 3D confirmed

But seriously though considering the work that's been done in modding Mario Kart 8 I'm sure someone will eventually try to make a successor to Project M based on SSB4, but that's going to be a long way off and I don't even know if the original PM team will actually want to make a full successor anyway.

i wouldn't be surprised if melee suck ups demanded and made another project m for smash 4

If someone here manages to hack into the files, we should honestly make a Super Smash Mario Boards happen.

How about no

Aw :(

I'll just hack into the files and make myself even though i have like zero experience

Newsflash: I had zero experience with 3d modeling and crap before hacking brawl. Just saying

But if your motivation to hack brawl solely exists to put your crappy ocs in the game....tbh with me that's pretty sad

I'm not saying ocs are bad (coughyesiam) its just that...well its kinds narcissistic dontcha think. Besides the shttiest hacks in brawl vault are usually crap sonic fan characters sooo.. they kinda left a sour taste in my mouthy

Eh, that would kinda suck.

It really depends on Smash 4's engine, though.

I have been considering giving myself a redesign mainly because I don't really want people to think "crappy fan character" the moment they see it, kinda like what happened when I put "SK" in a flash animation on Newgrounds three years ago.

In other words character development, I don't know how to describe it more without sounding narcissistic.

The HD Hyrule Castle is beautiful.

I don't really care for the OoT costumes though. Nanobuds hinted that there's more costumes and stuff for 3.5 but they won't be revealing any of them.

So a sort of follow up to what I mentioned a while ago about trying to port to PAL.

All stages are working, all alternate costumes are working, all characters are working besides Kirby, Mewtwo, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Charizard, Roy and maybe other characters I haven't quite tested who all crash the game upon being selected, although all sound effects are gone except for common sounds (menu and fighter common) and Mario's sound effects because smashbros_sound.brsar has completely addresses for almost everything, and sometimes a fighter will get stuck in T-pose for no reason until they get hurt. And sometimes the game gets stuck in endless loading when trying to load any of the new costumes (Dr. Mario, OoT Link, Classic Fox etc) but when I test again it loads fine.

Essentially, it's nearly perfect, besides being very unstable and the character select screen lacking Roy (I have separated all the transforming characters but the random icon uses the sprite for Mario's icon because code's fault) and the stage select layout being the same as Brawl for the time being because there's no working code that alters the number of stages on each page. Though I might stop and wait for 3.5 to release at this point.

Is that some sort of way to make it work without hacking your Wii?

Actually I'm not sure how easy getting 3.5 will be, I should just have to replace the files on the sd card but I'm cautious about this. It never works easy when it's supposed to.

Actually my laptop is broken so I can't do it anyway ;_;

I only used Riivolution, so nothing permanent has to be done, and nothing bad happens if you do get a buzzfreeze.

Well, getting Riivolution in the first place requires some softmodding on your Wii. But again, you can install it and remove it at will...

Well if you ever get a machine that can emulate wii games, dolphin is capable of it.

I used a guide for the newest version of project m and it worked pretty well.
