The Amazing Spider-Man 2

a movie doesn't have to have no redeeming qualities to be bad

it doesn't mean the movie is completely ruined, but a movie isn't "good" just by not being as awful as it could have been

I saw this in movie theaters today. It was absolutely great, but just a little worse than the first one, mostly by design of how The Lizard >>>>>>>> Electro.

Electro was originally Max Dillon, and brilliant, kind person who has helped out New York sooo much, but is treated like worse than dirt in return. He adores Spiderman, because Spidey saved his life. When he gets into a freak accident and gets his electric powers, which would not happen if people actually treated him well.

I never really liked Electro. I mean, his electricity powers are so over powered, with him having the ability to use all the electricity in New York. Which he did. Although, the ways I see Electro defeated, he gets defeated by his own design. Which is kind of a cool way to defeat him, but I think his power is downplayed again and again.

So Electro was defeated by overloading himself and exploded. I do have to say, that was probably the coolest Electro. Then enter The Green Goblin, who is none other than Norman Harry Osborn.

OK, getting ahead of myself. Now, I think that Harry is a good character most of the time, but sometimes his character can get pretty weak. And I think it is really weak in this movie. Like Norman Osborn was shown on his death bed with some rare disease that is genetic. Norman dies and Harry becomes the new leader of Oscorp. Harry is immediately a target by the advisors, and they plot to get rid of him so that they can carry out their experiments that are highly illegal. At the same time, Harry starts to get that disease that his father has, and wants it cured instantly. Even though he probably has 20-30 years before it will kill him, but oh well.

Harry and Peter become friends again after 10 years of being separated, which was the only 15 minutes where Harry seemed cool in the movie. Then he tried to get Peter to get Spiderman his blood, because he found out about the spider project. So Peter as Spidey talks to Harry and refuses to give him his blood, and Harry rages. He frees Electro from Oscrop's grasp so he can take over the Oscorp and for Electro to destroy Spidey.

Harry actually gets some of this Spider formula and is injected with it, and it does not turn well. He ends up getting into a power suit, and now he looks like the Green Goblin. I have only seen one other Spiderman universe where Harry is the Green Goblin. I think that was a show called Spectacular Spiderman. Pretty mind blowing for the first time I seen it. Too bad they cancelled it. But I digress.

Right after Electro was defeated, Harry came to destroy Spidey, and realizes, with Gwen there, that Spiderman is Peter Parker, and gets really enraged. They fight in a clock tower, and long battle short, Spidey chokes him with his web. I thought he died, but no, he was seen at the end in prison. Yeah, way to get 20 minutes or less screen time Goblin. That whole arc was pretty lame to be honest.

Then the gears they were fighting on collapse and Gwen was falling. Spidey tries to save Gwen, and manages to latch on with his web, but right before she would have been saved, just briefly, her body hit the ground and died instantly. So, uh, theory that Gwen is going to die is confirmed. But man, they almost could not have made that death anymore painful. And there goes Peter's best girlfriend. I bet Felicia is next, but I will talk about that later.

Peter was so upset, that he quit being Spider man for five months. Which is sort of De ja vu-y with the second movie in the previous series, but with different circumstances and such. Crime has steadily increased, not like it really decreased though. A person contacts Harry in prison, and uses his super suits of animal themed body armor or tools. I saw The Vulture. I could have sworn I saw Doc Oct's arms, but I could be mistaken. The first one they choose is The Rhino, which is the most advanced Rhino I have seen.

Kind of weird to introduce a new villain this late. The Rhino, who the villain is the same villain from the beginning of the movie driving the truck. Suddenly, a little boy in a Spiderman costume comes between the cops and The Rhino ready for fighting him, and just mass panic happens. That is when Peter decides to be Spiderman again, saves the boy, calling him the bravest kid ever, and fights the Rhino, ending the movie. Which sort of irritates me that they end it like that, but oh well.

Then there is the third arc, Peter's dad arc, which for the life of me, I cannot remember who it is, or if they even mention his name. Now, I don't recall Peter's parents ever having to do anything with the plot, but I love how they are in this series. The fact that Peter's dad (and probably mother) have been so connected by Oscorp's experiments and Peter turning into Spiderman is just fantastic. I love it. And there is probably more to come.

So, predictions for next movie: Sinister Six! Thought it would be in this movie, but I guess not. Still hoping for Mysterio, but that prolly won't happen. Who knows, Electro is not that well known of a Spiderman villain, so maybe there is hope. Also, Felicia Hardy will turn into The Black Cat. I mean, why else would she randomly be in this movie. Also, I thought Smythe would turn into a villain, but I am pretty sure Electro killed him. Darn, I liked his....shoulder things.

tl:dr, it was good, but just a little flawed and rushed believe it or not.
