I don't want people to get hung up on the way Link looks because ultimately Link represents the player in the game. I don't want to define him so much that it becomes limiting to the players. I want players to focus on other parts of the trailer and not specifically on the character because the character Link represents, again, the player.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Did he really say that? Or is this a translation?

If it is a translation, did he use any japanese terms that are gender-specific?

That might also be referring to people's image on Link in their head and not actually the character shown on screen.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

I wouldn't put it past him at this point if he was messing with us again but I really doubt it.

i think people are being way too whiny over his look

Fanbases in general whine about slightly different appearances nearly all the time. Just look at Sonic.

Ruined forever.

Did you just change the eye color to green? :P

Well, a think it came to a surprise to a lot of people because they weren't expecting Cel-shading, and so for many fans, it took them a minute.

Again, one of my main issues was the fact that when they showed him off in the trailer, they did a bad angle of him with the lighting and it made him look rather off.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Already a lot of people are complaining because it seems that Link will be Right-handed in this game.

But again, there'll always be fans complaining.

Forgot to post this one too.

So yeah, pretty positive that Link is a guy, though Aonuma is noting how people think he's a female.
Aw man I would have totally played with a Female link this time.
why does gender even matter? the game would still be the same, running around beating up monsters

it makes no difference
You don't get it. Every Zelda game has a male link but I would have accepted to play as a female link too if given the choice. I know gameplay won't be different so yeah. if gender selection was present I'd do a run with both genders. also if female link is not viable then Zelda can be a viable option.

yeah, he's using his bow right-handedly, so that probably means motion controls are back. they didn't mention that in gameexplain

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

Please do not lump The Wind Waker together with Skyward Sword. Thank you.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

But The Wind Waker has no motion controls. Mentioning it in response to the prospect of motion controls is extremely silly.

Also, TP had goats too, and it didn't do much.

Not really. Someone recently provides the possibility of motion controls and combined with the already known existence of cel shading, deters him from wanting to play this game.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

That may be, but the way he phrased it still makes it sound like he's bringing up The Wind Waker as an example for a game with motion con--

You know what? This is a really dumb thing to even be arguing about.

Re: Zelda (Wii U)

i don't get why people didn't like skyward sword so much

i thought it was still enjoyable, for the most part
