The Official E3 2014 Thread

while anything is technically possible when it comes to Sm4sh's roster, i'm positive that a generic Mario enemy like Shy Guy won't get in

Plus considering he's a Smash Run enemy the chances of him being a playable character is extremely unlikely.

If anything though, he's being kind by reducing the chances of you setting yourself up for disappointment.

...your point is?
You could have just said he was unlikely instead of impossible.

I think Baby Mario and Baby Luigi are close to impossible at this point. You just have to face reality bub.

How many new newcomers would there be? 33 have been confirmed so far, and assuming the only returning character they exclude is the Trainer, that brings it to 48. If they go for an even 50, that should only leave two more?
Shulk
Chrom
Chrous Men

Ridley
Shy Guy
won't happen

Maybe he thought that since you said Ridley that we were talking about characters not getting in.

...I'm sorry, I couldn't resist. :P

In all seriousness now, while each insallment had more newcomers than the last one, that doesn't mean that it'll continue that way. Like, Sakurai said he didn't want to add too many characters, nor did he want to cut too many, which is why I believe there are only like 3 newcomers left.

With the game coming out in like a little over 3 months, I doubt they'll show another Newcomer until the game comes out. That or have one like in September as promotion for the game.

but Ridley won't be playable. He's a stage boss for Pyrosphere. The only people saying otherwise are those that are in denial.

well tbh at this point I don't think Ridley will happen either

At least Ridley had a chance, even if it was slim. Shy Guy on the other hand never had a chance.

I agree with this. Ridley and Mewtwo's chance of getting in are slim to none, but it's a lot higher than many other potentials.

I understand we should probably talk about other stuff in this thread, but, all joking aside, I'd hardly call Ridley's chances of getting in 'slim', considering Ridley is an ideal second rep. for a series that has had a lot of games, and has been going since the SNES. He's also appeared in all the Smash Bros. games to date, can be sized down perfectly fine, has been teased in a similar way to how Palutena was in the Direct and has a good possible movepool.

I understand saying "RIDLEY CONFIRMED" has become quite annoying as a fad, but, as a character, Ridley probably should actually have had quite a good chance.

Well, technically Zero Suit Samus is a second rep for Metroid right now.
I feel it's wrong for Metroid to have the same amount of characters as Earthbound, a dead series with only three games.

I'm still holding out for Ridley. With all the teasing and lack of Pyrosphere at the demo, I feel his chances are 50/50.

Though Lucas may not return so only one character to represent the series.

What about the Yoshi series? They only have 1 rep, despite having many games.

There's also the Wario series and to a lesser extent the Pikmin series.

Well, I was bringing up a series that was represented throughout all Smash games, but yeah, Wario is another one. I wouldn't bring up Pikmin since there are only 3 games for it as well, and the fact that it took nearly a decade for Pikmin 3 to be released.

Yoshi doesn't really come to mind though when I think of all of Nintendo's biggest series. Metroid does.

Hence I added "to a lesser extent", though it comes off as considerably less dead than the Mother series considering its most recent game was only last year and actually released outside Japan.

I think part of the reason with Yoshi, Wario and Metroid all having just one representative is because those are all mainly single-player games or usually just have one playable character.
