Next Paper Mario game (Likely on Wii U)

They should add a feature to the pit of 100 trials where it allows you to save on every tenth floor. I realize the challenge is to do all the battles in a row but honestly a lot of the time I just don't have enough time or patients to do it all in one sitting.

Pit of Easy Trials.

Doing it all in one run with no saves is the challenge, it's not even difficult otherwise.

it was never a challenge to begin with, it was just annoying and isnt even worth doing anyway.

No, doing it all without recovery is the challenge. The saving just allows you to stop and come back to it if you gotta go do something.

No, doing it all without recovery is the challenge. The saving just allows you to stop and come back to it if you gotta go do something.
It also allows you to infinitely retry from your save if you die. You don't have to do it all without recovery because you can bring items, with the obvious strategy (if you need it) being; die, reset to last 10th floor, heal before where you died, continue. I get what you want, but it only makes an already fairly easy pit into an even easier one.

The pit only took two hours in TTYD anyway, not so sure about the SPM ones but they can't be absurdly long. If you can just find a time period of 3+ hours to play the game then you'll be fine. It's not an issue worth ruining any semblance of a challenge for.

I'm sorry but no. The inability to save adds absolutely nothing to the challenge beyond forcing you to go through the whole thing in one sitting. The fights never change as you go through, its the same set up each time so if you die, all your doing is going through all the fights you already went through before THEN healing before the point where you died.

Its not challenge, its tedium.

And believe me, you'd be surprised how little time one can have these things nowadays.

Plus there's also the problem of a power failure or the system occassionaly displays a disc reading error message.

On the other hand, Danger Mario set up works well.

Yeah that's the point. The pit of 100 Trials is tedious and always will be. Take away that tedium and it's not even worth mentioning or keeping. The whole point of it is to be a trial to see if you can complete 100 floors in one sitting. If you don't want to do that then don't bother with the trial, because that's its entire purpose. If you can't do that then tough luck, I'm sure you can find a spare two hours somewhere even if you have to keep the console turned on for a few hours in between. Quit making excuses and just do it if you want to complete it.

not even sure why someone would want to complete 100 trails anyway its so obnoxious and has literally no good rewards aside from ttyd's item bag enhancement.

There's a badge on floor 100 but by that point it's probably not that useful.

I don't even know what it does.

I only did it once so I could get the Tattle Logs I was missing. It was indeed pretty obnoxious, didn't help that I got the poison mushroom bingo twice in the last few floors. Oh but there is the fire drive badge at floor 30 I think, which is pretty good for some battles. Not that PM is hard but that badge basically destroys Rawk Hawk.

If the point is to be tedious and a chore to get through, then let me let you in on a little secret.

THATS BAD GAME DESIGN

Well how could they improve the Pit of 100 Trials (besides saving every ten floors)?

Well, the entire concept of it is kinda stupid in itself since your basically just curb stomping 80% of the stuff you fight.

No because as is its just stupidly designed. Really they should just ditch the whole thing and replace it with a bonus dungeon or something.

Any version of it really.

yeah its pretty bad

i remember that one of the bonus dungeons in star ocean 3 had a similar thing, except you'd fight a modification of an earlier boss every 10 floors

not even that was very good, but at least it was something to look forward to unlike the pit of 100 trials which is basically nothing to look forward too other than that item bag expansion.

I much prefered the dojo from PM64 and Kent C, Koopa. The dojo's only problem was the lack of any worthwhile reward for completing it.

I wish both of them didnt have such severe weaknesses though

kinda ruined the fights the first time

I know Kent has his tail but what weakness does the master have?

Volt badge/shroom.

If you have one of those he cant combo you at all, thus destroying all the challenge.

also kent c. koopa had a massive weakness to sleep so lol

Never thought to do that actually, I usually prefer pure power and offense.

honestly i thought the volt badge was a little too overpowered though, doing damage by an enemy just touching you is pretty silly

even if it was 1 point of damage it was still a bit much.

Well it could be worse. Never really used it myself as I said so I never thought about it.
