The Mario & Luigi thread.

Yes I do mean the babies. Expanded upon of course.

I want to see Yoshis instead of Toads being strapped to trees and having their body fluids sucked out of them. It might be little use for the Shroobs aside from their and the players' pleasure, but that's what counts, I guess.

When I first played Partners in Time I really thought Toadiko was Toadette

So naturally I freaked out they sucked out the vim on who I assumed was Toadette

Shoulda been Toadette, it's a prime example of creating an unnecessary character.

That's one advantage I have. The only Mario character I despise is dead and I never need to worry about seeing him again.

^Thought you hated every character in that game.

Also, Toadette herself was an unnecessary creation when Toadsworth could've been used in Double Dash as Toad's partner.

But you like original characters. Because original character = better character.

I do like original characters (not necessarily all of them are better though) but I was just pointing out that Toadette was unnecessary to create in the beginning, she may as well have debuted in Paper Mario 2. Toadsworth could have easily been in Double Dash.

Toadsworth was driving the victory car. Plus Toadsworth isn't a female.

Toadette exists to fill the role of a recurring female toad. People like female characters, something toadsworth can't fill.

Well then she should have debuted in TTYD, where original characters are more common. Mario Kart should not create new characters when they have such a large pool to pick from.

But this is about Mario and Luigi. I have no problem with original characters in this series even if there are existing ones who could fit the role.

In Toadette's case, I think she's a far better fit as a partner than Toadsworth.

I have no problem with her now that she exists. But her debut should have been in something that's not made to celebrate the existing characters of the franchise.

Hypocrisy at it's finest.

What's hypocritical about that? Mario Kart is made to use existing Mario characters. RPGs are more lenient and can allow for more original characters.

And this rule was written down where?

Rules don't have to be written. You say all the time that Mario RPG characters should rot in obscurity and never get a chance to shine in the main cast, and that's not a written rule.

You just have to decide whether the rule is logical or not.

I think a young boy-like character would be partnered better with a young girl-like character rather than an old man.

It's not made to celebrate existing characters of the entire franchise, though, that's the flaw in your reasoning. This isn't like Hyrule Warriors or Smash Bros., it's a Mario Kart game that uses well-established Mario characters with a few new ones, not Mario characters from the breadth of the franchise.

Besides, I think all characters that made their debut in Mario Kart were created as a counter/partner sort of thing.

Hold on a second, why are RPGs more allowing for original characters than Mario Kart? Is there any particular reason? Usually these guys are made up on the spot to fill a role in the game. You know, filler characters. Why is it taboo for Mario Kart to do the same exact thing? Why can't it make its own original characters and why are you suggesting that Mario Kart would be better if it used the characters made specifically for RPGs as opposed to making characters specifically for Mario Kart?

I say that because they aren't important. However that still doesn't explain why one series is allowed to create OCs and the other isn't. Other than your own bias.

You do realize that if only the Super Mario and RPGs introduced original Mario characters, and there would be no Waluigi, right?

lol this.

Waluigi should have made his debut elsewhere too. I like him but that doesn't mean he should be in the position he's in because of his debut.

Also, if I had been gaming at the time Mario Tennis came out, I probably wouldn't like Waluigi as much. When I met him he was already established.
