The Mario & Luigi thread.

That still doesn't answer our question.

Waluigi should have made his debut elsewhere too. I like him but that doesn't mean he should be in the position he's in because of his debut.

Also, if I had been gaming at the time Mario Tennis came out, I probably wouldn't like Waluigi as much. When I met him he was already established.
Well, yeah, but you can't change that anymore. Amazing characters have a chance to appear in something outside the RPGs, no? The Mario sports, karts, and parties are probably the best place to establish new characters, now that I think about it.

Double Dash is the freaking PRIMARY reason I started to develop a huge liking for Baby Luigi.

And if it weren't for Double Dash I doubt he would have made it in Partners in Time..............

Plus if Mario Kart is apparently forbidden from creating new characters, I could easily say the same thing for the rpgs. There are hundreds of characters created just from the platformers alone that I can create an rpg specific role for no problem.

Let's see.

Heroes:
Mario
Luigi
Princess Peach
Toad
Yoshi
Rosalina

Main Antagonists:
Bowser
Bowser Jr

Bosses:
Petey Piranha
King Bob-omb
Reznor
Mr. I
Boom Boom
Motley Bossblob
Maybe Nabbit

The NPCs would be all the different species just like normal.

But where is your ultimate, uncounterable proof that Mario Kart was not made to be a racing game of Mario all-stars?

How about the vast amount of overwhelming strong evidence against that point rather than "DEFUNUTE PROOF"

You're the only one who has ever claimed it was such a thing in the first place. The burden of proof is on you.

There see? Just add some entertaining dialogue and personality and there you go.

I just realized how many non-minion species there are in the Super Mario games.

Toads, Bob-omb Buddies, Penguins, Piantas, Nokis, Lumas, Bees, Whittles, maybe more I'm missing.

Edit: also yoshies (how did I forget that)

Define "Mario All-Stars".

Because I'm sure you have definite proof it was.

When I see a bunch of characters racing together who would normally be trying to kill each other, naturally I'd think that it's just a representation of the cast rather than them actually making peace.

It's like the actors celebrate after a play. Imagine every Mario game being a play and the spinoffs like MK being the party all the actors go to afterwards. Now imagine some of the actors not being invited because their play is "inferior" to the others, while they let a stranger off the street come in instead.

I think it's kind of both in some strange way, but I don't give much thought to it. I think of it more like this: it's not Mario All-stars, it's popular Mario characters that aren't in some niche franchise that tenaciously bars their original characters from being in other series (in your opinion anyway).

More like it's a kart game starring Mario and co that occasionally creates their own characters.

That's an "all star" game in name only.

When I see a true Mario all star game (including more than just platformers) then we will talk.

I know you were joking.

what i would like in a mario collection game is as follows

donkey kong
super mario bros
super mario bros 2
super mario bros 3
super mario world
super mario 64
a full timeline of the mario franchise, with artwork
new levels based on 3d world
a few episodes of the cartoon

well if they put in an rpg, they would need to put in a kart racer, a sports game, and a party game as well.

I kinda based this off the Kirby anniversary, which only had playable copies of the first handful of platformers

no dream course or air ride or anything

I'm not against a Mario Kart/Party game in there as well, but I'm not sure what sports game they could use. I haven't played many of them but is there one that captures the feel of them all? They all are different sports and the multi-sport ones (like Sports Mix) as far as I know don't have every sport that some other games do.

If that makes any sense.

I don't know. I think Mario Golf for the N64 would be fine.

It's the one that pretty much cemented the Mario Sports series in its place.

The rpgs aren't all stars

Wingo should appear in a future game, along with the Toad Brigade.

Their roles would be similar to their respective games. Maybe flesh out Wingo's personality more.
