post any random Mario thought on your mind

it was on the 3ds

and it was just as good there as a wii u version would've been

we're even going to get a second golf...thing (not a full-on golf game) on the 3DS

i mean, it just shows how much little faith nintendo has in that wretched console

Developed in part by Camelot, no less. I'm actually really looking forward to Sports Superstars when it releases. I just hope the rest of the games in the collection are at least on par (tee hee) with golf in terms of quality.

I get that the Wii U is not as successful as the Wii, but why people have to treat it like garbage is quite baffling when there are some good Wii U games to play.

The Wii U did have a lot of great games, but let's not kid ourselves, it was trashed by pretty much everyone. Third parties refused to develop for it, Yooka-Laylee skipped it among other games like Project Cars, it lost its exclusives like Super Mario Maker and Yoshi's Wooly World, and its sales is among one of the most dismal of all time. we also missed out on a lot of games this generation, or some of those games that did come out aren't any good. Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash sucked and Mario Golf skipped the console entirely.

Even Nintendo wants to bury it as quickly as possible, with the Switch coming up, wanting to replace it.

The irony of the story is that Super Mario Maker 3DS is heavily inferior to Super Mario Maker Wii U without the ability to upload courses online. And while Smash 3DS does exist, it's not quite as effective for competitive play as Smash Wii U.

Well Mario golf skipped the wii so it's not surprising it skipped the wii u as well.

And I'd still argue that the wii u has more value from it's exclusives then either of it's competitors which most of the games worth a shit on those I would (and have) played on PC.

In the end, no matter how poorly the Wii U did when compared to the PS4 and XBOX ONE, the system at least had games that I'd actually want to play. The PS4 and XBOX ONE hardly have any, and I'm not spending a lot of money on a PS4, just to play the upcoming Crash Bandicoot: N-Sane Trilogy.

The Wii U has Baby Luigi playable in Mario Kart 8 and that's all that matters

Guys, maybe I'm coming late and you already talked about this elsewhere, but Nintendo Co., Ltd. released a few weeks ago the at this point unavoidable page about the Toads, and among the Toads that are Actually Characters™, Toadsworth is listed! Yupeee!

P.S.: of course Super Mario Sunshine is not listed among the main games where Toads appear, Nintendo rather lists Luigi's Mansion instead...

Aw man, my favorite characters, Yellow Toad and Blue Toad from New Super Mario Bros. Wii aren't listed

They are well hidden, actually: click on New super Mario Bros. Wii and...

「きいろキノピオ」 is Yellow Toad
「あおキノピオ」 is Blue Toad

They pretty much say that both Toads appear as playable characters that came to save Peach along with Mario and Luigi.

Nintendo has some sort of bias for Mario Party 2 , being released again for the virtual console.

Why not Mario Party 3???? T_T

Has Mario Party 3 ever been released for virtual console?

Speaking of which, I played Mario Party 2 on VC with my brothers for the first time yesterday. It was the first time I played any N64 Mario Party (which is ironic, considering my sig on Mario Wiki). We didn't get very far due to the fact that the control stick on the Gamepad is breaking. My first impression is that it's hardly any different from any of the pre-MP9 games, specifically MP8, as that's the one I've played. It's also not really any better. It seems like many fans consider MP1-3 to be better than MP4-8, but I have a feeling that's due to nostalgia mostly.

Brace yourself for Mecha Marathon. That minigame is so dang annoying.*

*Side effects may include broken controllers, some yelling, and a lot of ragequits.

I honestly find Sneak 'n' Snore worse

Sneak 'n' Snore is a cakewalk if you know what you're doing.

I find it worse, and I don't get why people praise the N64 Mario Parties up the butt compared to Mario Party GCN games, which I think are superior to the N64 games. N64 games are riddled with memorization and that kind of crap, and they don't even have that much minigames to boot. Their minigames aren't that special as people think they are. They're solid entries, but they aren't much better than the GCN ones. One thing I do like about the N64 ones are the minigame instruction screen where you're allowed to perform those moves before the minigame starts, but that's not a huge loss. Anyhow, the minigame selection screens in those Mario Parties also feel weird.

The only advantage I can think of for the N64 ones are some special modes (like Duel Mode of Mario Party 3), some creative maps, costumes, and the minigame selection thing. That's pretty much about it. The newer Mario Parties fixed some of the bad issues the earlier Mario Parties had, such as, I don't know, the requirement of buying minigames before playing them, even though you unlocked them.

That's part of the trouble with comparing Pre-GCN games to Post-N64 games in general. There's either gonna be nostalgia or just that retro feeling that gives Pre-GCN games an automatic boost. For example, Mario Kart 64 has some good tracks, but it has bad graphics and questionable controls. Even though the later games improved upon it in pretty much every way, I still find myself wanting to put it high on the Mario Kart list sometimes. It's just harder to compare Pre-GCN games to newer ones because of the retro feeling and you feel like you're "disrespecting" the old games if you put them lower than the newer ones. (Of course, part of that comes from the fact that a lot of Pre-GCN games are better than certain newer ones.)
