Let me say that the trailer was really good , i love their reactions to Peach holding a gun. Those are the details other companies give to characters that makes them more developed and likeable. Cannot wait for more.

I will say I am pleasantly surprised by how much they nailed the manerism of the Mario characters.

Funny thing is, did they ever connect that to Petey in anything but appearance? I think they called it just a Rabbid Piranha Plant or something.

At least there won't be a Rabbid Fawful. I'm torn between whether this would ruin him or be better than nothing

My expectations were low going in and honestly, they still are. I don't care how much new information there is, I'm standing by my opinion that I summarized on Twitter. If you follow me, you've seen it. But for those who don't, basically I'm still really salty that my favorite game series of all time is crossing over with the video game version of the Minions. If everything about this game except the Rabbids were in it, I'd be happy but the Rabbids are a dealbreaker for me.

The art style is really dope though.

There goes my expectation meter , starting to go lower.

Picking Mario in a multiple character game screams basic. I hate it , worst if its mandatory.

I saw some of it, it looks really nice visually and seems like it'd be fun. The exploration part looks basic but the battles look like a lot of fun assuming they don't hold your hand or make it too easy. I'm a little surprised that combat is only three characters though, I guess it keeps it from being too cluttered and tedious. It also just might be their way of hiding that they don't have a whole lot of character variety lol

August is still a bit away so we'll probably see some more by then. I didn't really even give a shit before today so ubisoft did their job.

I'm not a fan of Mario being a permanent team member. He might be the face of the series, but the world doesn't revolve around him.

Being forced to use Mario? Waaaaa. As for forcing a Rabbid, eh, I'll just get a Yoshi Rabbid in there. Not a big deal for me. I'm looking forward to this game. You can't fault it for not trying to be different from the standard fare. Honestly, give it points in Mario originality in terms of concept.

However, I'm hoping the Rabbids don't take all of the spotlight in terms of expression and reaction and overall silliness, though I see it's a challenge trying to balance that and not make Mario and friends act too crazy.

I guess you don't like it in concept, but personally for you, it's not like you have much of a choice and I'm sure it's not a huge problem considering that your other options are the green reptilian fartbag or a boring princess.
 
I mean, yeah, personally on my level, I'd end up putting Mario on my team regardless, but this "you need Mario for your team" restriction should have died with the New Super Mario Bros. series.
 
You know, I really like those smooth animations and it actually seems pretty promising, my only concern though is that you HAVE to pick Mario. I'm okay with one rabbid, but can't I have Luigi and Peach on the team?
 
Unfortunately, it's Mario, one friend (or Yoshi), and a Rabbid.
