    I feel like the Nintendo 64 is probably the only example of a console that had a large library and yet has no hidden gems.

    To be fair this was the early days of 3d and as far as I know very few 2d games were made for the 64, it would've taken a while to develop 3d back then

    @Sir Pentious It really had nothing to do with the development time, it was more the fact that there were so few companies actually releasing games on the platform.

    Just to use a random month, as an example: September 1997, one year after the N64 came out in North America. In September 1997, there were a grand total of three games that came out on the N64 in North America.

    Meanwhile there were 30 games released on the PS1 in North America during that same month. Because the PS1 actually had a large number of companies developing for the platform.

    If Nintendo had managed to retain their third-party developers from the SNES in some form, no one would talk about the infamous N64 droughts.

    i feel the big difference between the brainrot my generation watched when we were kids online vs the brainrot nowadays is that the brainrot of my generation was pretty much restricted to the internet and was, relatively speaking, niche as fuck

    like there was no chance hollywood would try and make YOUTUBE POOP: THE MOVIE, hollywood would've gone 'wtf is youtube poop? some dumb internet thing i guess'

    (internet brainrot shit needs to be kept as a far away from real life as possible imo. i wish we could go back to the days when there really was a divide between internet culture and RL culture /gen)

    @SiFi @Ray Trace I feel that Fred getting multiple movies (which started in 2010) and Annoying Orange getting a TV show (which was in 2012) is kind of the beginnings of the modern era of Internet brainrot. (I don't think this disproves my point since I never said that it completely started with the modern internet generation + I hated that shit when I was a teenager myself tbh)

    I completely agree with you, hence why I think Skibidi Toilet is like, just a modern incarnation of this genre of brainrot. It's not me that's getting old for this shit, even back in 2010's I never liked this type of shit and I always knew it would be braindead, irritating content. I've also only liked a select amount of YouTube poop but I was never really into that culture myself.

    easily my most unpopular opinion i hold is that i think people under 18 should be banned from like most, if not all, social media sites

    i'm not even joking either, that shit is dangerous to people's mental health and if we can't ban social media entirely, at the very least we should be able to ban kids from them

    I think minors should be able to access social media, but if they're too young (under 13) they'll need some parental supervision (and besides we already have a poorly enforced age restriction don't we?). Over 13? It's probably still up for parents to decide, but kids over 13 should just be made aware of the risks, misinformation (parents should teach kids how to spot lies and disinformation; also how to avoid coercion and predators, although adults fall for this crap too), and whatnot and if they know their mental health is affected they should see therapists and school counselors. If kids proceed knowing the risks (and they don't share sensitive information), then I guess if they wanna be wound up in drama, so be it.

    I know it's unpopular but the idea that people under 18 should be barred from social media is draconian, overstates the risks, and there too much overreach into kids' lives.

    Besides kids are smart enough to lie anyway. Ive been on GameFAQs when I was like 10.

    @Veneer forums may technically be a form of social media but nowadays people treat the term 'social media' as synonymous with 'social network' which is shit like twitter, tumblr, facebook, etc.

    my nintendo switch 2 prediction:
    1. it will be backwards compatible with switch games

    2. despite this, there will still be tons of ports of switch games now for $70 and millions of nintendo fans will buy them regardless of the fact you can just play the old ones on the system just fine
