Articuno is cool (no pun intended). Zapdos, like Jolteon, looks way too spiky to be cool, and Moltres is just a chicken on fire. Articuno is the only one that doesn't go overboard on its typing. It could have easily been made out of icicles or something, but it wasn't.
Just beat the wind dungeon. The boss was really easy.
Anyway, on my list of "things that I really like", we can add the quick-travel option. It's just so amazing. And if you combine that with the markings you can put on your map, it means you can easily go back to get things you saw before but...
So, I just got the game (finally!). Which dungeon should I do 2nd? I'm thinking the wind dungeon, because in the original, the Death Mountain dungeon was 3rd, but I dunno.
They give you the Power Glove and the Flippers so early in this game, there had better be more roadblocks to exploring in...
Is it like they're running out of ideas? I mean, by season 4 for a kids show means that you're going to have to dig deep to think of new ideas. Especially for a show that generally has a set universe, and thus, is less likely to get away with just random characters or plot elements just being...
Re: The official Rant and Rave thread
I don't CARE if they're the best games ever, they're so anti-consumer and yet STILL so popular I have no choice but to hate its very existence.
Yeah, I was trying to get it and it was sold out as well. Although, I went the day after the Boxing Day sales, so that was probably to be expected. They still had copies of Pokemon, though.
Re: The official Rant and Rave thread
This isn't particularly a rant on a single game, but I HATE how people nowadays are under the impression that linear=bad and open world=good. Sure, an open world might make the game last longer, but some games are NOT supposed to be open world. It's like...
Re: The official Rant and Rave thread
I hate free-to-play iPhone games. The ONLY major FTP game that I didn't find insulting was Plants vs Zombies 2. But everything else...do I even need to say what's wrong with it? Even Rovio has gotten into the action with Angry Birds GO!. And that game is...
No. It's already, like, $100 cheaper than the other next-gen consoles. And I don't think they can use the excuse "no one wants to buy expensive items after the GFC" anymore, can they?
Oh, and I saw a Super Mario 3D World add on TV this morning. So they ARE advertising.
Victory Road: BW1. Seems the least frustrating, and the whole 'sliding down cliffs' thing was real fun.
Elite Four: Platinum, because Flint actually has Fire-types. Gen 5 and onwards aren't good because they only use 4 Pokemon each.
Champion: Cynthia and her Garchomp. That thing was hard.
Re: The official Rant and Rave thread
What I hate more about Skylanders and Disney Infinity is the concept of them. You have paid DLC, and then you have games like this. It's so stupid! You can't unlock all the levels unless you buy all the toys! And the toys cost a lot more than, say, buying a...
Ooh, cool. Actually, I think that's the last event Pokemon I need to technically have them all, even if they're scattered around in my different games.
DPP was probably the easiest because you could see where they were on the bottom screen and didn't have to keep pausing the game to check. Also, an in-game trade gave you a Gengar with Mean Look. Otherwise, it was really annoying.
It looks pretty cool. I've never played Dynasty Warriors, but it looks ridiculously awesome. I just hope Link isn't the only playable character. If we could fight as Zelda...that would be awesome.
If anyone is still pissed off at Rosalina's inclusion in...everything now, just deal with it, she's the new Mario character. Didn't Bowser Jr. start appearing in all the spin-offs after Sunshine? She's the most noteworthy main character they've released in the last few years, and the mascot for...
The Bone Season, by...someone. My sister's friend said it was going to be the "next big thing", but I don't see the appeal. It was OK, but there was way too much made-up terminology which should have made the world seem more realistic, but it really didn't. Also, it started off in a future...
Sometimes I feel like all the backlash against the series now has gotten a bit extreme. The shortcomings of the series in general were obvious even when the trailers started (voice acting, animation issues). I do understand why people were annoyed that every episode wasn't a fight scene and it...
Hm...I really don't know. My two favourite types are Grass and Psychic. Mostly because I like a lot of the Pokemon of those types. I will probably like Fairy more when they add some cooler, less derpy looking fairy types (I'm looking at you guys, Aromatisse and Slurpuff. Heck, I didn't even like...
That's strange. But, yeah, the game was pretty easy even when I was underlevelled. I beat the game with Pokemon at level 60-61 with no problem, and the champion's highest Pokemon is level 68.
I don't really like that they gave Chesnaught and Greninja really good hidden abilities, but a really bad one for Delphox. But then again, Game Freak has had a history of screwing over the grass-types, so I think it's good that the fire-type is the worst one for once. Competitively, I mean.
I generally tilt my head to the side a few times and watch my Pokemon copy me, and then it goes to the minigame automatically. You need to make sure the face icon is showing up, though. That means it's registering your face.
The minigame doesn't really work properly, though. The facial...
Honestly, if it has polished gameplay and lasting appeal, I'm fine with whatever.
Although I'd like some more non-linear 3D platformers. Not necessarily SM64 style, because I never knew what to do when I was younger, but a game like Galaxy with more exploration. Maybe if they make something...
Still, though, Scatterbug can be cool, if you evolve it into Vivillon and it has a different pattern. Unfortunately, if you don't have a Vivillon Friend Safari, the only way you can get them is by catching scatterbugs and evolving them. Maybe they WERE trying to be nice that way.
Wonder Trade is like a social experiment. It's like "Let's give you the option to trade ANY Pokemon, and see if people trade crap or good things". Most of it is the former. Although normally, it's because if people get something bad from wonder trade, they just wonder trade THAT out as well.
Dead Rising 3, I dunno. Or games like AC4 and COD. Let's be honest, this 'no games' thing happens to EVERY console when it launches. There's no point in making fun of it.
Ohhhhh, different languages. I never thought about that, but I guess you're right.
Of course, they could have just made the censorship change with what language you selected for the game, but I dunno. That'd make too much sense.
So, let's talk about the Miiverse. Is it a cool idea? Stupid? Too much moderation? It just released on 3DS, and I've been somewhat addicted to it. It's kinda like tumblr for Nintendo games.
Tbh, it didn't necessarily have to be deep and thought-provoking, but you could tell, unlike in XY, the team really put a lot of attention into it (maybe more than the Pokemon designs...I dunno). Think about it, BW was the only game where the intro was actually an intro to the story, with N's...
Hey, I'm not saying I LIKED the Mega Evolution story. I'm just saying they focused on that instead of Team Flare, and that's why it felt like the climax came out of nowhere.
I figured it out now! The reason they didn't spend much time on the Team Flare story is because the game was too busy putting focus on Mega Evolution! I kept thinking there wasn't enough story stuff in the beginning of the game, but there WAS, it was just about Mega Evolution instead.
Yes, there is a valid problem with it, but I don't think that detracts from the overall quality of a game. A game doesn't get judged SOLELY on what new things it brings. By that logic, all COD games should automatically get, like, a 3/10 or something. Do you notice they don't? Not even reviewers...
I've got an idea. Let's get rid of rating scores altogether, and just talk about good and bad parts of the game.
After all, no one cares if a review is bad, just as long as the score is high/low enough for their taste.
Also, "originality" is not part of a review score. You don't say "Oh, it's...
God, are you still angry about having Rosalina instead of Daisy? Eh, nevermind.
Well, he's similar to Rosalina because he hasn't been playable before (in his Cranky Kong form, anyway). The other 4 characters in SM3DW were playable in SMB2.
I wish someone here had Vivillon in their friend safari. After managing to wonder trade in Marriland's livestream, I've decided I want to catch loads of australian Vivillon and wonder trade them out to everyone. The only problem is I don't want to train a million Scatterbug to do it.
Re: Javelin's Pokemon Advice Thread!
*still not as bad as getting Milotic in Gen 3/4*
I'm just saying, if you want a dragon-type, the others are easier to get by comparison.
Re: Javelin's Pokemon Advice Thread!
The only problem with Noivern is you can't get a Noibat until quite late into the game. And it's pretty rare, too. I went through Terminus Cave and Victory Road and never saw a Noibat. I had to go back in to try and find one.
(I know you can only find it in...
