The Cutie Marks concept reminds me of the Giver

Why?

Because at a young age you are given a mark that symbolizes what you will do with your life (although 3 smiling flowers does not equal teacher)

EDIT: Also I noticed something in the first episode with Rarity's cat in it the cat was fairly friendly (if not a little stuck up) but by it's next appearance it was very mean to Rarity.

A few things I don't get. Ponyville has about 30 ponies maybe yet there are like 500 apples trees (which have way to many apples in them by the way) which makes me wonder why they have so many apple trees I mean most of them will spoil because they aren't going to be used which means that you've just wasted a large amount of your profit margin by planting so many apples.

In one episode the Princess is coming to visit so they make the food (which is mostly cakes) in advance which means
A: Not have the same flavor as a cake just out of the oven
B: Begin to harden because they aren't be kept fresh.

Also at the end of the episode the Princess visits...JUST TO TELL THEM THAT SHE'S CANCELLING THE VISIT.

But didn't they establish that there are members of Applejacks family in like every location who also make apple products

EDIT: this one might be an animation error but it appears that some trees have multiple types of Apples

I haven't liked any of the episodes with villains they just feel rushed and I found it odd that he was able to break all of the Ponies (except Fluttershy) so easily and I found his puzzle to be flawed an illogical.

On that note I think the episode would have been better if it was only one part and had them each find there element (oh and it would have been better if they would have been in the maze) and then have Discord confront them and have them beat his challenge on there own instead of destroying the friendships so easily.

I'd say maybe you'd like Canterlot Wedding better as I think that had better pacing then both the pilot and the Discord eps. But I somehow think that even if you did like it better, it wouldn't be by a huge margin.

I think considering the rather long lines. Ponyville ponies LOVE Cider. It's a good thing they had so much Cider now, they have more then enough for the town.

Btw Fun Fact that I learned. Cider doesn't foam like it does in Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 unless it's in the Alcoholic form in real life. They might of gotten away with a town lining up for alcoholic beverages xD

I noticed a few other things
1. They didn't bet the farm they bet the rights to sell cider in Ponyville so the Flim Flam Brother wouldn't take over the farm.
2. The Flim Flam brothers still don't have any apples.
3. Why didn't the brothers just explain that they turned off the quality control to win the contest
4. They Applejack family still can't sell cider since the Flim Flam brothers own the exclusive rights to sell it

As for 3, well that might of been considered cheating. Albeit not telling anyone didn't help because they gave the bad cider to the Ponies in Ponyville.

And 4. I think if they went to the next town after being scared off by angry customers the Apple family got their Apple Cider making rights back by default.

That is true in some sense, but it was the fact that they offered their services that would make a lot of Ponies happier that made them a threat. If it weren't for the fact that the Flim Flams were so greedy, they might of actually been helpful to the Apple Family if they gave the Apple Family the more fairer of the profit splits. Unless their cider machine requires high gas money or something, they should of gave the Apple family 60 or 70 percent of the profits because they actually provide the apples that make the cider.

so, yeah. it's neat that Octavia name has been made canon, and I don't mind Time's name much.

Sure, 75-25 with the Apples getting the 25 doesn't sound like a good deal, but at top production the SSCS6K produces quadruple the amount of cider the Apples can produce, therefore quadrupling the profit, and since 25 quadrupled is 100, they would be gaining the same amount of profit as if they continued making cider the old-fashioned way. The only difference is that if they took Flim and Flam's offer, they would also be supplying everypony with top-notch quality cider.

Everypony had a chance to have their cider, and drink it too!

To be fair they are doing most of the work since they are growing the apples (that and if they make to much to fast they will
A: Run out of Apples
B: All of the Cider will spoil
C: The ponies will grow tired of the cider because they drank to much

With 1 and 2 I guess it was they would lose the land if couldn't sell cider since that's what kept them a float in the winter (which begs the Question how they could still be paying off the land since it's been in there family since Ponyville was formed)
3. If using a machine to make cider isn't cheating then why would turning off the quality control be?
4. Probably I mean what are they gonna do sue not with that angry mob.
