Yes, you apparently can only pick one.

Technially I have (Twilight of course) But I still like the other 5 very much. Fluttershy's the only candidate I'd say to be my 2nd favorite. But I'm always on and off whether I should make it official in my mind.

I honestly wasn't a gigantic fan of Cutie Mark Chronicles either. I liked it of course - there's not really an episode I don't like - but it's probably one of my least favorites of the first season.

[me=Smasher]prepares to be murdered[/me]

Gotta say Smasher it's becoming a lot harder for me to agree with you on some things on this show. You have Twilight as your least favorite of the Main 6, You just said Chronicles was one of your least favorites from Season 1, You thought Part 1 of Canterlot Wedding was meh.

I respect your opinions. But dang, what's next? xD

He probably hates Filly Twi!!

I just saw this on My Little Brony:

It kind of gives me a new perspective on things...
This could also be applied in reverse.

Same here.

But replace "don't like Fluttershy" with something much stronger.
I started out liking her but she got worse. Her timidness turned into "Let's see how ridiculously helpless and weak we can make Fluttershy be" to the point where she can't jump over a tiny crack in Dragonshy. And she's a PEGASUS. It happens again in Putting Your Hoof Down; she can just fly over a stream but instead takes the bridge and gets caught behind two ponies. And then her niceness turns into rage. Isn't it funny how she's the one who rages most often? And when she rages, she turns into a real asshole, pushing people around, giving them creepy stares, not caring about people's feelings. It just gets old after a while and kinda disturbing, especially how her friends try to forgive her for freaking out.

How many times has she raged outside of that episode 3 maybe 4 times and one of those times was at a dragon, the other was at a chicken snake that turned one of her friends to stone.

Also I thought the moral at the end of the episode where Rainbow Dash was trying to break the cloud record should have been don't push people to hard. I mean she did make a sick pony practice and said he was trying to get out of it when he coughed, more then likely this only helped accelerate his illness and he's probably the reason those other 8 got sick, which not only cost them the record but it nearly stopped them from doing what ever it was with the water.

Flying over them would of been going around them like what Iron Will told her not to do. I thought that was weird at first as well, but Fluttershy wouldn't be taking Iron Will's advice. Even if it was bad advice for her anyway but that was what she was supposed to learn. And she only raged about 2 major times. At the Grand Galloping Gala and in Putting Your Hoof Down that's not enough to say she raged most often.

And yeah I agree with Shoey saying this:

Adding with the fact the Dragon was going to hurt her friends and the Cockatrice were going to turn the CMC into stone and if it wasn't for Fluttershy's stare she would of been Stone as well.

Granted her freak out at the gala was bad (much like the episode itself)

Pretty much my whole problem with Fluttershy is that her character type is meant to be one-use, but has been stretched for dozens of episodes.

She's supposed to be the "shy one" of the group. OK, cool, sounds like an awesome character. But then you have the episode(s) (Dragonshy, Hurricane Fluttershy, etc.)that she overcomes her fear.

At that point, the writers are pretty much stuck in a conundrum. If they keep her shy, they mess with continuity and make her seem even more like a wimp than she was before. If they maintain that she overcame her fears, that fucks up her whole personality and makes her not fun to watch.

In Dragonshy she overcame one fear and that was in a time of need animals can pull of great things when in danger, Hurricane Fluttershy was a recent episode where she overcame the fear of being laughed at (I think) but even then she only overcame it in when she absolutely needed to overcome it so once again it could count as a temporary thing. And to be honest I think every pony has that problem where they learn to overcome something only to later repeat the same damn thing
Twilight has her OCD
Applejack has her stubbornness
Rainbow Dash has arrogance
Rarity probably has something that I don't remember :P
And if you wanna talk one note characters look at Pinkie Pie, I think that Pinkie Pie should be a recurring character because she only has one prominent trait which is partying, She tends to have little essential influence on the plot and when she does actually influence the plot it's more for rule of funny then anything else (case in point the one with the crazy insects and the one with the dessert contest)

So I've changed my vote to Rainbow Dash on the poll. I love Pinkie and Dashie equally, but I think Dashie is a bit above Pinkie right now.

In other news, my friend is now a brony. Her favorite pony is Rarity, so at least she has good taste on ponies.

Dragonshy has her stand up to a dragon that was going to hurt her friends. Despite having a fear of dragons she had her concern for her friends' safety take higher priority. It doesn't mean that she no longer fears dragons. Fluttershy's a character that will be timid and shy, but when her friends is in danger. She'll stand up for them if necessary. That's what Dragonshy established.

And Hurricane Fluttershy and Putting Your Hoof Down were 2 different things. In regards to Hurricane Fluttershy.. she's traumatized by being bullied heavily in her childhood. That's not something you simply can deal with and move on, especially if you're as sensitive as Fluttershy is. Putting Your Hoof Down was basically Fluttershy learning to well... put her hoof down to anyone and say "No" even if she takes Iron Will's advice a little too far.

She can have all those episodes and still remain the shy pegasus we know she is. Nothing really has broken her character completely. She just learns to assert herself in certain situations. I don't think she says No as easily to Rainbow Dash in Dragon Quest if Putting Your Hoof Down never happened. And while she did assert herself and escape she still was utterly heart broken when in Ponyville Confidential the CMC reported that she uses Tail extensions. And Hurricane Fluttershy with the whole flashback to when she was being bulled as a child explains at least partly on why she's so timid.

And that's just what I said the problem was. Once she learns that (and doesn't pull a "Putting Your Hoof Down"), her whole character is resolved.

Well not really because then she becomes a total jerk to anyone she meets.

...Which will no longer happen again since she realized that in the only episode she did that
And then went back to being the doormat she was before.

All it did was boost her self-confidence in talking with other Ponies that weren't already her friends. Like if she went back to the Market that she had trouble with in the beginning of the episode she'd do alot better then she did. It wasn't going to shake her character to the point she's no longer shy because that's not what the episode was about. Not to mention it wouldn't exactly be a good thing if Fluttershy was no longer shy. Because it'd defy her very name.

And she clearly wasn't a doormat 2 episodes after Putting Your Hoof Down what with pushing Rainbow out of the way.
