Didn't Celestia have that prince who was her nephew or something?

Anyway, Celestia and Luna are borderline gods in this universe. Cadence hasn't really done much other then 'using love powers'. And Twilight is basically the de-facto leader of Ponyville already. It's not like you need wings to be a ruler or whatever.

Unless the previous rulers died and they needed a reinstatement.....oh god that would be dark. Oh, well. They just never made the laws of the universe clear when it came to this stuff.

Considering how Blueblood was portrayed in Best Night Ever. Do you really want to see him get close to a leadership role?

And while they do seem to be physical gods. Heck you could argue Cadence is a goddess of love. We still one way or another don't have any canon explanation for how Princesses work. That's why fanon has had to fill it in for so long. I'm sure part of the reason people might be angry about AliTwi is that it's possible it might break many of the foundations of the fanon that's been built around the princesses from the beginning of the fandom.

And while Twilight's a big deal certainly in Ponyville. She isn't the leader of the entire town. That's the Mayor. She's the leader of the Elements of Harmony. Some may be confused on what exactly she's going to be come the princess of. Well, I think that answers obvious. She'll be the princess of Magic in general. That's her born talent after all. As an Alicorn she might perhaps eventually become the strongest Pony in terms of magical power Equestria has ever seen. Surpassing even her mentor. Also given the title of the show, and what it's about. Twilight will be given the oppurtunity to share her experiences and teach the lessons she and her friends have learned to future generations. As cheesy as it sounds, Twilight will also be a Princess of Friendship. But given the name of the show, it means the same.

I see some real potential in Alicorn Twilight to carry out some interesting plotlines in the future. To me, Twilight getting Alicorn status is equal of that of Goku from the Dragonball series reaching Super Saiyan for the first time. They're the same character, just with even stronger strengths. And a responsibility to use their improved powers/higher power level to continue to protect what they hold dear most.

DBZ stopped being good after Freezia

Frieza was my least favorite Saga and Android was my favorite. So I'm going to have to disagree with you there Shoey. (Not that we agree on too many things anyway)

Now now, I'm sure there's something we've agreed upon before. Wasn't there a post I made in Marioverse that you fully agreed with me once? I think it was in some sort of Unpopular Opinion thread that was in that section.

So does that mean there's an Alicorn 2 and 3?

Who knows, Twilight is pretty much the most powerful magic user in the series for the exception of Celestia, Luna, and Discord. Enough time as an Alicorn and she could discover a level beyond a Super Saiya- I mean Alicorn

Nah, that'd be silly!

They should rename the show My Little Pony:Twilight Princess

I'd say accepting/fine with it in some places. But uh, I know there's probably some places where some aren't really happy at all.

Though honestly I'm glad Meghan said that tweet. Since it's a bit of a blow to those who argue Alicorn Twilight was put in only to sell toys and was forced on the staff by Hasbro. Even if now she's going to get at least some of the blame from those who don't like the idea. That tweet seems to imply the staff was like "Let's make Twilight an Alicorn in the Finale, put some subtle clues in the Premiere and present this as her destiny" and those behind the toy department are like "That will be a hit in the toy stores! Great idea!"

So there's definitely a next season... I'm excited to see where they go with what they've done this season!

But still, the idea that there's a fourth season makes me realize this series is no longer "new"... Some of my favorite TV shows barely lasted this long. Makes me wonder just how far it'll go...
probably about 5-8 seasons
