Wow. That hasn't been done before. It's always the same. A pushover or a shy character tries to become assertive, but then realizes he or she doesn't have to change how they are.

Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned that a writer's best tool is a cliche.

Fluttershy being assertive?

I think I've seen that before somewhere.

BTW, the MAD Animated series on Cartoon Network did another Pony parody (They've done it before with a Cowboys and Aliens parody thing) based around the movie about a Horse in World War I. And before you watch it worried they're making fun of it, MAD actually treats them more fairly then you'd expect from skit shows. They even got Tara Strong to voice the expy of Twilight in the video. Other then Twilight, There's Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy expies. I'm afraid there's no Applejack or Rarity though.

My opinion is well... meh. It wasn't really good but it wasn't terrible either. It just really wasn't that funny IMO. The best parts is just that it treats them fairly like I said and the "Go Bronies!" on the cake was nice too. Also thought the designs of them were a little weird, I kinda think when they did Cowboys and Equestrians that was more faithful to the look of the show then in this one.

For me. The MAD show is always hit, miss, or just plain "meh". And this one is one of those meh ones. Though overall from the MAD show I've seen more misses and meh ones to really keep seeing the show that much. I think one of the few I really liked was the Goomba parody they did a few times in one episode.

Okay, I don't care what anyone says, MAD is now officially awesome.

Really, anything MAD produces is an acquired taste, and it's not for everyone. They pretty much acknowledge how stupid and sometimes lame or obvious their jokes can be, and I respect that.

Regardless, this video made me smile, and not just because of the ponies. ;D

I never go to Urban Dictionary, but I go to TV Tropes all the time! I tend to use a lot of TV Trope terminology at lot, now that I go there on a regular basis.

I saw that too! I just talked about in the TV Thread. Strange, but a pretty natural crossover.

CR! FINALLY reviews another episode! ...It's not one of the newer ones, it's The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well.

http://blip.tv/familiar-faces/reviews-are-magic-the-mysterious-mare-do-well-5960978

Actually, I like that he's going BACK to review an older episodes like this one, ESPECIALLY since he's going back to review this season's biggest stinker. Since CR! is always well-informed (well, usually) and self-assured at what he's talking about, I'm sure this will give people an insight about what really went on in this episode, for better or for worse.

Yeah, it's true, some people actually thought he was talking about The Cutie Pox because he mentioned The Big Lebowski, even though it was kind of obvious he was talking about The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. Not to mention, most people thought he wasn't being serious about the episode, or he wasn't expressing his true feelings, because the whole scene was played up as a joke. Well, Paleo agreed with what he had to say, even if it WAS a joke. Either way, we'll ALL know for sure here.

I LOVE the black kettle and black pot gag, because really, it's SO TRUE for that scene! XP

"Spoiler"? Never heard of her. Honestly, though, it's the hat that made me think Darkwing Duck.

What's weird is that "You might as well adapt Cupcakes at this point", but instead, he showed a short clip from SHED.MOV... which isn't NEARLY as disturbing as Cupcakes is, honestly, and it's played more for laughs than anything.

The "ludicrously adorable baby pony design" was better in Baby Cakes than here. Here, it just looks... odd.

Well... it seems that Paleo isn't the ONLY one who hated characters winking at the camera. Honestly, I'm okay if Pinkie Pie does it, but everyone else... no. Just... no.

OH, OH, I GET IT! Each of the cutie marks that he uses to rate each episode represents something, and he's explaining it here! AWESOME for future reference!

Well, at least he's glad the Pinkie Sense was acknowledged, making it NOT just a one-episode deal, but for reasons I WON'T get into again! ...I would have just been glad if it was never mentioned again... in order to further justify my loathing for that episode.

Well, he really likes confusing people by saying he hates it, yet it's one of his favorites... I guess some thing CAN be appreciated and not fully liked, I suppose...

And I guess stuff like this episode IS a testiment to how awesome this series is. If it invokes an eomtional response, even a bad one, they're OBVIOUSLY doing something right SOMEWHERE in the show. Plus, it invokes critical thinking, which is ALWAYS a good thing... ALWAYS!!!

...Most of the time...

...Who's that doing Twilight's voice? It sounds REALLY GOOD!

Rina-chan... Dang it, where have I heard that name before? I'm SURE I've heard her voice other places!

Anyway, glad to see he hasn't COMPLETELY forgotten that he started doing this thing, and I look forward to more, both new AND old! ;)

NOT winking at the camera that time!

Don't know if you guys have heard already. But the final 2 episodes of Season 2 will be a 2-parter. No clues on what exactly it will be about though.

EDIT: Also an extended sypnosis for the Fluttershy episode in March (There's no new episode next week)

“When Fluttershy becomes tired of being pushed around for too long, she decides to seek some assertiveness training from self-help guru Iron Will. With the help of her new teacher, she quickly transforms her unsure ways."

I'm now thinking Iron Will is an Asian Master (Because of the word guru) of some sort. Anyone thinking "Wax On, Wax Off" Pony edition?

So yeah, still no clue about whether Iron Will is male or female... What I do know is that anyone who DARES try to use, abuse, or take advantage of Fluttershy will die a horrible, PAINFUL DEATH!!

...That said, Equestria Daily people have pointed out the similarities to a Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends episode involving Wilt who, now that I think about it, is almost like a male Fluttershy, although Wilt is far more outgoing and social.

Really, I don't hope it ends that way. I DO remember an episode where Wilt can't say no to anyone, and not only doe sit result in him going to prison not once, but TWICE, it results in him missing the game that he's been dying to see, getting the wrong chips for a thankless Bloo, yelling "NO" repeatedly while slamming his head on a table, and going to get more chips for Bloo anyway. Yeah, Foster's had a VERY cruel sense of humor when you look back on it.

I DON'T think Friendship is Magic will go THAT far, but I still hope Fluttershy stays who she is... just with a little more spunk, to make her more irresistable. :P

in other news, 4chan now has a my little pony board (link might be nsfw, depends on how the trolls are feeling today) :posh:

Our influence is growing.

Oh shoot I forgot all about the new episode. Now I'll have to wait for it to be uploaded to Youtube.

Pretty neat episode.

Like we were all expecting the Smile, Smile, Smile song showed up. Pretty nice, I only listened to it when it was leaked like once or twice so I got to hear it again in the episode

Also Pinkie Pie really used cartoon powers to her advantage. She even made more then 4 hooves appear onscreen AND during the song cheered up her own clone. And of course the Droopy style chase scene albeit we've already seen that with Rainbow Dash twice.

Also a nice touch-up that there are different kind of friends that would be happy to see you. But sometimes there are friends that for the most part want some privacy.

Also nice use of cameos and references. We had the Baby Cake Twins appear, many background Ponies, Derpy in a Snowglobe. Also Rainbow Dash can be seen reading a Daring-Do book in Twilight's library. Hooray for continuity!

Let's see.... Just saw A Friend in Deed a few hours ago. Great episode, I freaking loved it!

Highlights:

-The Smile song, obviously. I was smiling the whole time! :D

-So the cow wants cookies and oatmeal to go with her milk... Is it... her own milk?!

-So I guess hooved creatures really are equals to ponies, the way they walk around town and are treated pretty much like ponies are. Not just cows, but donkeys... STILL makes Applejack's actions and Rarity's remarks questionable, though... :???:

-Derpy's in the snow globe from Manehatten! XD

-I liked the snarky remarks from Cranky Doodle Donkey. Cranky characters ALWAYS get the best lines! :P

-Pound and Pumpkin Cake at the beginning! STILL as adorable as ever! ;)

-They really went all-out on using "Yankee Doodle Dandy" in this episode, even using it over the end credits!

-Pinkie's imagination is made of felt! I LOVE IT! XD

Kind of went overboard with the smilies there...

Anyway, there's one thing that sort of bugs me, and it's something that I was afraid of since this episode was announced: Pinkie Pie succeeded in making Cranky smile AND making her his friend. I was hoping he'd remain cranky and secluded by the end of the episode...

But then again, my reasoning for this is because of personal boundaries, and that IS the lesson Pinkie Pie learns. She learns NOT to be hyper and crazy with all of her friends, and that some ponies... or donkeys... perfer their privacy and personal space. That's KIND of what I was hoping for with an episode like this, and even though it didn't go EXACTLY the way I imagined it, it still managed to have that message, AND make everyone happy by the end.

So a win-win scenario for all, I suppose. Great episode, one of the best of season 2, if I may be so bold.

Also, episode 21 synopsis:

Episode: Dragon Quest
Air Date: March 17, 2012
Synopsis: Spike joins the Great Dragon Migration to discover his true identity, but it might not be what he really need.

Another Spike episode? AND more about dragons in Equestria?!

I just watched it too.

I laughed so hard when he said "yes Pinkie, I accept your apology AND I am honored to call you my friend" and the Pinkie Pie shot up into the air like a firework.

I was so happy for her :D

With today's episode aired we now have 2 weeks until the next episode. There isn't a new episode next week

Also regarding the Episode 21 info that Smashgoom posted. Cool, sounds like we'll learn even more about how Dragons live in Equestria.

I guess my expectations for the episode were too high, but it was still an awesome episode. Super awesome song is even more super awesome with a video clip. And all the little songs and different cartoon styles in the episode were nice too. Also the credits were a different tune than usual, which was a neat little detail xD

First time ever I thought Pinkie Pie was a little mean, with her constantly badgering the poor Cranky (a pretty cool character). But she was pretty cute doing it, and of course she made up for it in the end.
