I couldn't watch the new episode yesterday, but I got up early today to watch it. It's actually better than I thought. Here's my thoughts:

This is one of those episodes focused mainly on the Cutie Mark Crusaders (except this time, they are not "Crusading". That's good, because Applebloom is my favorite minor charcter, next to Spike of course. The song they sang while try to find a boyfriend for their teacher was funny. One line went like this: "He's too dirty/He's too smelly/This one has an obsession with jars of jelly"

The Love Poison concept seemed like a supereffective love potion. The appocalypse that they came up with is far-fetched, but kinda-sort of made sense.

Also, I can't help, but reading spoilers. Here's what I think the wink meant: The Love Poison is definately in effect anymore. Well there's a chance, but it had to require some awesome acting and/or self-control, depending if they were acting in the first place or not. I do however, think this is going to come up again somehow.

Can't wait for next week's episode!

I'm not a shipper. But I'm kinda leaning that Big Mac and Cheerilee did get together in a way. Perhaps it's not quite a serious relationship, but I figure the whole incident brought them just a little closer then they were before. Because early on in the episode the CMC led the 2 together in awkward situations. Although, it was an awkward situation, their faces seem to suggest they don't really know eachother that much. I think if they have been good friends before they would of struck more of a conversation besides "Nice day we're having".

Although the wink kinda tells that they were just messing with the CMC. The fact they went off into the sunset to have a Picnic between them should at least suggest they're best friends now.

In short: They went from being acquaintances to being good friends

The whole moral of the episode would be destroyed if Big Mac and Cheerilee went together. "Don't ever make two ponies fall in love... EXCEPT IT WAS OKAY THIS TIME." So yeah, I hope they never go together.

Also ever since the Flim Flam episode I like Big Mac and Applejack more than Apple Bloom and Granny Smith. I used to feel the opposite but I really don't like the way they handled the situation.

So I was watching the first episode again, and you probably already know it, but I noticed this:

Then I checked MLP Wiki, and they had a caption:
It's said that you often share a special connection with your friends before you even know them.

You know, it's funny. Everyone hates Gilda because she made Fluttershy cry that one time. But Discord did much worse to her, and he's regarded as the best villain ever.

I hated Gilda because she was a bitch. thats all.

Discord didn't act like a bitch though. He was more that funny comical villain you'd see in a cartoon usually. Gilda was just outright a bitch.

You know who else was a funny comical villain you'd see in a cartoon usually?

Hitler.

Except this is a cartoon about magical ponies. And Hitler was something people usually don't joke about, considering he killed a lot of people. While this had no harm at all. I wouldn't mind the Chocolate Rain in the episode though.

I'd rather be dead than Discorded.

Are you kidding? Discorded SiFi would be awesome! He'd be funny, and attractive, and intelligent... and he wouldn't give a shit if you called him Si-Fi!

Fluttershy is a good character and all, but her lack of assertiveness really doesn't appeal to me. All the other mane six can be a leader when the time is right...except for Fluttershy, IMO.

Also, I just watched the episode "Applebuck Season" (which I discovered is the 4th episode after looking at the above quote link). I though it was an awesome episode. I tend to really like Applejack episodes. There were also some really funny lines in that one too.

Some Random Character:*Lying on the Floor* The Horror! The Horror!
Twilight:*Looks around* I don't get it.

and

Pinkie Pie: Ride a Cowpony!!!

Actually, I think I can make a really good song parody based off that quote. Yeah, the title would be called: "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowpony".........On second though, NO. It also doesn't even make sense since horses and ponies are basically the same species......
.......
......

I actually liked Gilda. Discord was fine, but a little overrated IMO.

By the way just saw the Hearts and Hooves episode. It was alright. The part at the end where the CMC tried to keep Big Mac and Cheerilee apart was funny, but the rest of the episode seemed somewhat lackluster to me. It wasn't bad, I still liked it. It just wasn't one of my favorite episodes.

Hitler.
Do we ALWAYS have to resort to Hitler and the Nazis when we can't justify our arguments?

Way I see it, Discord had a bit of charisma to him; he did horrible things, but his voice, his mannerisms, and even what he did AFTER he thinks he'd won, it kind of wins him over with some viewers.

Gilda, on the other hand, had nothing to her other than being a massive bitch, trying to make herself "look cool" while at the same time, looking down on everyone. Also her voice and the way she talks is really annoying and... pretty dated. Like the whole 1990's "totally radical" kind of way.

Wow. That hasn't been done before. It's always the same. A pushover or a shy character tries to become assertive, but then realizes he or she doesn't have to change how they are.

Dear Princess Celestia,
Today I learned that a writer's best tool is a cliche.

Once again, it's not the story, it's how it's executed. Half, or dare I say, ALL of these past episodes have been pretty much the same stories you see in every other animated series. But the story is NOT what makes us watch it. What makes us watch it are the characters and how they react! Because Friendship is Magic has great characters, and you want to know what happens to them and what they think and do.
