I mean, many promotions occur these days, and some of the people are a bit like "Hey, I'm a Mod. I can do whatever the fuck I want.".
For example, Crash tends to lock lots of Mindless Junk and Forum Games Threads, while many weren't even close to breaking the rules.

Would you care to cite your references?

One he deleted because it was nothing but spam, one would have caused nothing but problems, one was a duplicate of another game. Everything has its justifications, and in this case, Crash was more than justified to do what he did.

You have a point, BMB, I'll get rid of that piece of text.

How about we have some sort of welcome message to new users? If we couldn't do a bot, we could have some sort of Welcome Committee or something to do it manually.
Welcome, [new user's name], to the Super Mario Boards! We hope you come to enjoy yourself in the committee and stay for a while. How about checking out some of these?
*Read our Rules & Regulations.
*Introduce yourself to the community.
*Discuss ways to improve the Super Mario Wiki.
*Help out with our Community Fangame Project.
*Sign up for a strategic game of Mafia.
*Need help? Check out our HelpDesk board.

We hope you have a great time at the Super Mario Boards.

Hey not a bad idea. I think it's better if a bot issued the notice, if feasible.
I think it's pretty good except
A: why would they even care about the community fangame? they're brand new to the community
B: i'm not sure we should put quiiiiite so much emphasis on mafia

The others seem good if we do this, tho.

I agree with Blocky too.

Per Blocky expect Mafia part because it does need more players.

A: I ran out of stuff. We could replace it with "Discuss Mario blah" or some Game with Friends thing.
B: I wanted to link to the board AND the rules so new users wouldn't be confused.

I agree with Blocky on B; if we're going to make Mafia so important as to include it in the welcome message in the first place, we might as well include the Elimination board in there too, so I think we should either omit that line completely or maybe make a reference to Forum Games in general.

Nope, it's actually a Mod, which CreateAForum has implemented into their SMF installations, before distributing it to their Hostings:

do we really have to promote forum games as an important thing

IMO, these are the only points new users need to see if this sort of thing is implemented. Anything else they can find and/or participate in on their own time.
