Fire Emblem: Awakening

And is there a lot to do after you beat the main game?
Yes and no. I mean, there's nothing like the Lagdou Ruins in Sacred Stones but it is fun to farm supports and stuff. And you can challenge those SpotPass teams to see if you can beat them all. And the DLC of course. Right now there's not much there that tickles my fancy but if that Future of Despair stuff releases over here, I'll more than likely be checking that out.

Eh, well, I'll probably just try to unlock all the paralogues and stuff, and than if I finish start a new game with a female unit.

I hear the ____ of Bonds series adds a bunch of support conversations, so that looks like something to look forward to (don't quote me on that, though)

So from best to worst, how would you guys rate all the DLC?

The Golden Pack is ridiculously useful. Unlimited gold, experience, and legendary weapons is worth the price of admission. Would recommend. I also downloaded the Lost Blloodlines 2 map so I could have access to the Dread Fighter class. Those are pretty sweet units but the price is kind of steep just for one map.

And I'd be happier with the Series 1 DLC if the characters you got from it could actually interact with your army or each other. That kinda killed my excitement for it. Series 2 looks to be much better.

Just married Virion and Nowi, and Vaike and Lissa.

Going to do their child chapters later this week and all the other risen battles.

I also promoted Sumia to Dark Flier and Lucina to Great Lord.

Noire, isn't half bad either. Going to promote her along with Kjelle soon.

So that new SpotPass paralogue just got released. It has you fighting mirror images of your army, stats, skills, and all. This is where being over-leveled will come back and bite you in the ass.

it's mind-crushingly difficult D:
EDIT:
Huzzah! I may have found a winning strategy for this.
1) Cheat the weakness system a bit. I reclassed Chrom to a paladin for the sake of the mirror Chrom having the weaknesses that all mounted units have. I then outfitted MY Chrom with the Exalted Falchion, 2 Beast Killers (forged to maximize their hit rate), and 2 elixers.
2) Have your avatar able to wield magic in one way or another. Have him/her wield either/or Celica's Gale or Waste (if for some reason you're set up as a sorcerer). Again, max out the hit rate and raise the strength as much as you can on those.
3) Have Chrom and Avatar take on the opposing army head-on by themselves, healing with elixers as needed.
4) Fill out the rest of your available space with weak, expendable SpotPass units.
5) Have one or more of those said units be healers. You're gonna need them to heal Aversa. If you want to recruit her, she has to kill the mirror image of herself.

Also the first of the Series 2 DLC is out now. It's part of what's being called the Challenge Pack which is also supposed to be mind-crushingly difficult.

I was under the impression Aversa just needed to be alive at the end? (Although I did end up skipping through most of it, since this particular playthrough was just about support farming)

Also that's kind of what I did, but I just paired Chrom with Cynthia and had that pair take out their alter ego.

Afterwards I just slaughtered all the weaker units.

What happens if a FMU marries Basilio? Does Morgan come out bald or what?

So, hopefully I'll beat the game next week.

I'll probably review it in May's Shroom issue, so be sure to read!

And when I finish I'll probably start up a Fire Emblem: Awakening Units V2W, if you guys are interested. :D

And question for you guys.

Did you bother getting all the kids, or just some of them? I mean, I'll probably go back and get some like Gerome (since I heard he's good). after I finish the main game.

So far, I only have Lucina (she doesn't really count though), Kjelle, and Noire right now. (I'm about to get Nah and Owain).

I usually get most of 'em, the only ones I don't really bother getting are Inigo, Yarne, and Laurent.

Always gotta get your children first though, my Morgan and Noire turned out pretty beastly.

Yeah, that's the thing, I'm like 3 or 4 chapters from beating the game, or so.

I'll probably get them just so I can see what they are like and stuff, and than try to get better supports going on my next playthrough (my biggest mistake was probably only pairing me and Chrom together in "Pair Up" so it was a lot harder to build relationships.)

Children are top priority for me - I always try to go recruit them when I think I can beat the chapter they're in. That isn't the case with Inigo, Nah, and Gerome at the moment because I can't beat the chapters they're in (I want to kill Nah's)... but I'm only at uhh, chapter 19 and I have the majority of them.

Also I like grinding them to at least be comparable to the rest of my good units before I move on to the next paralogue chapter and/or regular story chapter, which is what I'm doing right now with Laurent, Yarne, Owain, and Brady. Just so I have some other good units in case I need to switch out sometime. :P

Updates!

On Chapter 21 now.

I promoted Noire to Bow Knight (already had Virion on Sniper, so I figured I'd try this), Kjelle to General (again, Frederick was already a great knight), and FINALLY I got Oliva to Level 10 and changed her to a Myrmidon right away.

And Tharja and Lon'qu are probably my powerhouses. Sorry Frederick. I took out the whole group with Excellus in Chapter 20 without losing health with them. (and walhart too!)

EDIT: And today is Maribelle's birthday (not that she's a good unit anyway).

So I just had Avatar marry Aversa because I wanted Morgan to have Shadowgift.

and because i'm kinda weird like that

I'm on the last chapter of the game! :D

Tried a bit, but Kjelle died right away.....

I'll probably try a bit later and just have Tharja & Lon'qu, Virion & Nowi, Chrom & Me, and Vaike & Lissa just plow through it. :P

Don't forget to go and recruit Walhart so you can watch him mow down everybody. He's completely immune to Hammers, Beast Killers, and Armorslayers.

I don't have Walhart's paralogue yet, though.

Okay is it just me or does the RNG seriously RIDICULOUSLY favor the computer?

As in I'm on chapter 6 and I've dodged people about 10 times IN THE ENTIRE GAME

I've noticed that this is more of a problem on hard mode than it is on normal. Same thing goes for dual guards and dual strikes. For example, I've had Lucina and Brady reach S-ranked support and they don't help each other out as much as I think they should.

way to look out for your wife's well being, jerk

I also came across some information which may or may not make the RNG tick.
