Unpopular opinions about the Mario series

Thats a new one.

Super Mario Bros. has the best graphics.

that's not even an opinion, that statement is outright false

I will admit that I love the different art styles. One chapter you're in a manga-inspired flying city, and in the next you're in a dark, Van Gogh-esque land.
dont quite remember a flying city or anything but a lot of the areas are pretty good and the game is pretty smooth and generally looks good. Hell the game has even aged pretty well.

Ironically that's one of the few Mario games I have yet to buy

When I say "few" I mean literally almost every N64 and GCN Mario game

Pretty much all Mario's attempts at a plot have been average at best and hilariously awful at worst. If there was never another plot driven Mario game again I would not be upset by this.

You'd be wrong of course.

Yeah, the game is truly timeless (or at least very close to being).

Bowser Jr. is a fun and well-thought character. I like facing him and his numerous gadgets. His personality isn't too bad either. He is mischievous and causes trouble, but you just gotta like the little guy. He just wants to impress his dad.

There you go again, calling me wrong for having a differing opinion.
He has a point. While I don't think that any Mario games have truly mind-blowing plots, I at least want a decent story. Galaxy isn't an evolution in video game stories at all, but it at least gets the story going and improves my enjoyment of the game.

Not really. Its a simple fact. No Mario game has all that great of a story. They are all filled with dozens of cliches that have been done many times before. The only thing that makes them memorable at all is they often lampshade the cliches and poke fun at them.

Well most do.

Greatness is in the eye of the beholder. I find the stories in some Mario games to be complete masterpieces.
In other words, Super Paper Mario

I don't care if we never see what Mario's true relationship with Peach is.
