I like Bowser Jr. better than the Koopalings, mainly because Bowser Jr's battles in Galaxy are ten times more original and challenging than anything in NSMBWii.

the koopalings are just too generic to be individual characters in MK8
if there's one thing sm4sh did right its making them costumes.

In Smash they don't fit as alts because alts are just skins. In Mario Kart having the same build doesn't matter as much so they could work as alts with Bowser Jr. being the default character.

There's really no way I can say it better.

I don't speak for Koopalings fans but seeing Roy in Bowser Jr.'s build looks REALLY awful. It's like fan-made quality (not saying fan-made things are bad at all but it looks extremely unprofessional, yeah that's the better word for it)

Even that doesn't make sense since they're distinct characters with distinct nearly everything else. Putting them in one slot wouldn't solve any problems other than roster appearance which is a petty thing to complain about.

Problem is they haven't the same weight so they can't be alt skins for Bowser Jr. in Mario Kart.

Isn't that basically what the alts menu is? Just a sub-menu within the main roster menu?

It does barely change things because there is no limit cap on the number of characters.
And alts color such as the Yoshi and Shy Guy all have the same stats.
