Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

come on guys, everyone knows the best generation was gen III

I started out with Generation IV, so...

But, for the record, none of my favorite Pokemon are from Gen I. I just don't really like their appearance; they just seemed to...blocky and not very appealing. Also note I thought Zekrom and Reshiram were too complex and overdid it.

I think Gen V might be my favorite, but I think Gen IV makes me more nostalgic.

Gen IV was my first as well. Though there's something about Kanto Pokemon that's appealing to me. That's why I made a team of only Kanto pokemon in HeartGold

I don't have a favorite generation, because I like all of them differently. Gen I was the beginning of the series and it represents nostalgia to me. Gen II was the first time we saw the series expand so everything was amazing. Gen V had the best metagame and the best battle style, and I really liked Unova. Gen III was cool too. I do have to say, though, that my least favorite generation was IV. Sinnoh was a very bland region, very forgettable, just like the Pokémon introduced in that generation. That's just me, though. It wasn't a bad generation, it's just my least favorite.

I personally thought Gen I was the most bland, in my opinion. Even with the remakes, it was still forgettable to me.

Gen II's my favorite, since Silver was the first game I completed in the series (i.e. beat the Elite Four), and I enjoyed re-exploring the Kanto region. Nostalgia aside, I agree that Gen I was/is pretty bland. Gen III is ok, but not as memorable as Gen IV. Gen V I avoided for much of Black/White's lifespan, though I should probably make an effort to get through Black (I might just be getting sick of the grinding aspect of the series, since with every other game I've played, I've been motivated to at least beat the Elite Four, and I don't even have all badges in Black yet).

Gen III is my favorite because of the awesome musics, the region, the funny contests. And it has Groundon and Kyogre; the best legendaries ever.

Had the best Pokemon though.

Gen V is my favorite. Reusable TMs + plenty of awesome Pokemon + an actually sorta interesting story.

Yeah I just hope that the TMs will have unlimited usages again for the X and Y versions, because prior to the 5th generation, it was quite irritating that a lot of the TMs can only be used once, and you can't get ANY additional copies for some of them.

Them making TMs multiple use REALLY helped out a lot in Gen V, which is another reason why I really like Generation V a lot. That and the fact that it was a lot more smoother to travel to a location without having to remember where to go. I felt in Gen IV you had to know exactly where you were going, or else no progress was to be made. I already forget to go to Celestial Town before trying to reach Calavine City (probably wrong names but whatever) because I'm not used to backtracking so much.

Another thing I really liked about Gen V was that it was a lot easier to level up Pokemon. It took me like 30 hours of countless battles to get my pokemon to be good enough against the Elite Four the first time in Gen IV, and the highest level I had was 75. But then I get into Gen V and I already have like 5 Level 100 Pokemon because you are facing Pokemon with Level 63 in some places while in Gen IV the highest is like 46. It really was a big help to evolving pokemon too.

Plus, it was a lot easier to check some Pokemon. Gen IV was annoying because you had to slather trees with honey and hope that you get a certain pokemon, and then some pokemon rarely appeared in an area.

I'm really looking forward to Generation VI though. I really feel that it will be a very fun game. I already like the Legendaries because they're not as complex-looking as the Tao trio and the Dragon Trio from the previous two installments, and are more like the Weather Trio right now.

The main flaw with the 5th generation, however, is that your Pokemon's level affects how much experience points it'll get after a battle.

You see, in the 5th generation, the closer your Pokemon is to your opponent's Pokemon's level, the less experience points it'll receive. Sure it's friendly for your low leveled Pokemon to start out, but it'll eventually turn into a burden if your Pokemon's level starts to exceed that of your opponent.

While the 4th generation is not so friendly to low leveled Pokemon, at least the experience points that your Pokemon will receive is constant, regardless of their experience level, making wild Pokemon battles more tolerable for leveling up your Pokemon.

That's the reason why 95% of my Pokemon in White/Black 2 are traded. That way, I give them the Lucky Egg and I never have to worry about leveling issues again.

That's why I think rare candies should be avaible at shop once the game is finished, it's quite boring to fight the elite four again and again to level-up pokémons.

Your other option would be to use PokeGen to build up your Rare Candy supply, but I doubt that it'll be compatible with the X and Y versions for quite a while.

But the 5th Generation has Audino, who's available in ANY tall grass in levels close to you, and gives massive amounts of EXP.

Maybe at first, but if your Pokemon's level is higher than Audino's, you'll soon get to a point where it's not offering you much experience points at all. Also, you don't get as much experience points from wild Pokemon battles, compared to if you KO'd the Pokemon in a trainer battle. Sadly, only certain trainers can be rematched, such as the Pokemon Breeders.

Oh, I was thinking about grinding during the game itself. I guess it's not useful if you want level 100 Pokemon. I've never bothered with it, honestly.

Fuck this feature.

Fuck this feature indeed.

The person who had the idea of having infinite TMs has already earned their place on heaven, copious amounts of blessings and a never-ending supply of Nutella.

What happens if it was the same person that implemented the experience by level feature?

Are you kidding? When I helped Yoshiwaker out and gave him an EXP boost through that Entralink power or something, we literally managed to get a Lv. 1 Solosis to Level fourty-one by soloing a Lv. 50 Audino by using Substitute, Protect, and Toxic.

The new EXP formula is awesome.
