I don't count dying as a difficulty spike.

Besides, many of those came from dying on purpose + other people playing with me (mostly the latter).

Yes it does get harder, I admit, but I don't find it that severe.

After over a week of hard work, I've pretty much completed everything with every character now. That sure kept me busy for a while.

Hey, I still am trying to beat it with all players and I have lost like 500 lives so far.

Then again, the last 200 were like me working with my family trying to beat each level so I don't spend forever by myself...

So, now all I have to do is finish like three worlds with everyone, and get Peach on the last level. I just use Rosie, as I have it perfected with her (literally, I do it on my 1st or 2nd try now when I start up my game), and I just turn on the other controllers and get the other characters on. Except for the fact that my cousin was over and was bothering me when I was trying to get Peach on it.

I don't think I've ever lost 500 lives on a single Mario game before. Maybe close in Super Mario World and New Super Mario Bros. Wii just because of the amount of time I've played each.

Believe it or not, there are some people out there who were able to 100% complete everything without losing any lives at all. However, a stunt like that can be extremely hard to pull off, thanks to the game's auto-save feature literally recording every life loss that you make.

No. I play by myself yet lost around 200 lives on the way (iirc) and not 100% yet.

I was able to pull it off quite easily with 3D Land without having to turn off the game that sure says something about the game's difficulty but I haven't tried in 3D World yet, especially since I'll need to play through each level five times to fully complete the game.

I only had 100 lives at that point... wah.

yeah i've got far enough so that i can go to champions road if i want (haven't done it yet, been busy), and i've got around 350 lives (rough estimate, could be more or less than that), so idk how he can have that many when he's only got up to world bowser

There are many ways to get that many lives, such as with the slot reels, the golden train, and even the Infinite 1-up Trick that exists at Koopa Troopa Cave.

I only had about five at at point. Mostly because I killed myself a lot to get green stars and my half-brother screwed it up during World 6-1.

I think you should get 3D World. The level design is fantastic for the most part, multiplayer is pretty good (still have to iron a few kinks out), but if you prefer 2D sidescrollers and more variety in playable character abilities, get Tropical Freeze.
