I've tried to avoid all Smash-related news to not spoil myself, so what I'm going to talk about is rather old by now, but I just have to say it.
I LOL'd SOOO hard at Sakurai's comment when Waluigi was revealed. It was like "STOP BEING SO FUCKING ANNOYING. WALUIGI IS NOT PLAYABLE AND HE WILL NEVER BE". I'm happy to know that Sakurai and me think the same about him. He just doesn't deserve to be playable.

That's not exactly what Sakurai was saying. He was referring to how Waluigi himself was a hard worker. The fact he's even an assist trophy to begin with makes me think Sakurai has at least some degree of like for him.
Granted either way you put it the last sentence is a bit of a blow to fans of Waluigi. Even if you didn't support Waluigi, you have to imagine if what if one of your most wanted characters were deconfirmed and Sakurai had a similar statement.
Strangely enough, while I'm sure there were some extreme reactions (Ex: The guy on Miiverse who said he'd get people to invade Miiverse for revenge against Waluigi's assist trophy status). The reaction to Waluigi being an Assist Trophy again seemed to be more quiet compared to what happened with Ashley and Skull Kid. It's strange because I'd think the Waluigi for Smash 4 base was bigger then either Skull Kid or Ashley given how popular the Mario series is in general.
