IMO they're semi-clones since they can share the same playstyles (they can play campy and they pretty have the same tools), but Link is somewhat more offense oriented, while Toon Link can combo and can play safer due to his speed. Toon Link isn't as strong a killer, but he can actually recover so it's easier for him to intercept a foe's recovery and edgeguard them. =P

Toon Link is only a semi-clone for many reasons that everyone has already stated, he is a different Link that does use a different art style, and they include him since he is not a clone to Link, but to represent the Celda side of Zelda. He's in the game, so stop whining about it.

A character doesn't have to be major to be in the game (Ex: Sheik, Jigglypuff, etc.)

And even so, other major characters include Impa, Vaati, or heck, even Tingle.

Besides, Tink is a good representative and reminder of the recent cel-shaded Zelda games such as Wind Waker.

She is definitely a good addition to have, and she is a reoccuring Zelda character...AND a female, which would be a great female addition to SSB.
