I don't understand: Does this confirm Toad playable or is Sakurai just mocking us?

It's just a pic of the four Super Mario 3D World main(as in, not in the same way as Rosalina's unlockability) playable characters. So neither.

Could be a troll move by Sakurai. But it's a bit of a kick to the balls of those who wanted Toad playable in a Smash Bros. game because it's a group shot of Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad together. But Toad is still being used as Peach's B move. The only hope for Toad is if the Playable toad is the Blue Toad right now. And even that's looking slim at this point.

I feel the most a series should have is four representatives. And only four series should get four characters.

Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, and Kirby.

I count Zelda/Sheik as one character and the same goes for Pokemon Trainer.

I assume Pokemon change and/or Transformations don't count either. Otherwise Shiek would make Zelda have 5. And Pokemon would technically have SIX reps in Brawl. But anyway, are you sure that Pokemon would be best at only 4 reps? Because no matter what that means one Pokemon veteran from Brawl is being cut or Mewtwo won't be coming back.

And I personally think Kirby's fine as it is now. I think Sakurai's modesty on the Kirby series will keep say... Bandana Dee out. Meta Knight and Dedede only got in Brawl because they were highly requested characters ever since SSB64 & Melee. Bandana Dee's support only really started with Return to Dreamland.

I wouldn't mind if Donkey Kong had four reps, personally.

Also I don't have a problem with Mario and Pokemon getting five reps. I think they both deserve one more spot. Five should probably be it for now though, and I agree that Zelda doesn't need anyone else.

I still would like to see a character from Wario Land, most likely Shokora or Captain Syrup. Or maybe even Rudy as some stage hazard.

I know someone who'd agree. I'm not sure about a character, but a stage could work

Guys, the game doesn't come out in Japan until December. You'll have to wait 'till then.

I don't know. I mean, they did release Pokémon X and Y worldwide the same day.

There won't be a story mode like Subspace in it. However that doesn't rule out at least an Adventure Mode type thing.

What'd be kinda cool is if each character had their own ending cutscenes or at least those ending pics you get after completing Classic (Or back then just regular old 1-P Mode) Mode in SSB64
