Characters confirmed to return in SSB4

That was a horrible last sentence. I fixed it. It's going out in America the day before the season premier of MLP, so November 22.

I think discussing Yoshi's return is just ridiculous AND pointless. It's not even worth it. His return is undoubtable.

Now, I don't understand why people still say a character can't be cut just because they are part of the original 12. Sakurai has NEVER said that "the original 12 won't be cut, ever". Remember Ness almost got cut in favor of Lucas for Melee, and he wasn't just because Mother 3 was delayed. Had Mother 3 not been delayed, Ness would have been a Smash 64 exclusive. I think that this time, Jigglypuff should be cut for good.

Having three appearances doesn't guarantee that Jigglypuff is returning, but it certainly helps her. Additionally I'm pretty sure she's still the most popular of the three remaining Brawl Pokemon reps, I've heard she's one of the easier characters to program, and she now has the fairy type to help her out. Plus I think that they're at least trying to bring back all of the Brawl characters. I think - and hope - that Jigglypuff will return.

Also since this thread is for characters that are confirmed to return, we should probably move this conversation to the main Smash 4 thread.

thing is

Jigglypuff wears the classiest hats in her "alternate outfits"

that alone should keep her in

This plus the fact that

Jigglypuff is still extremely popular in Japan
means Jigglypuff returning is very likely

I still don't see any reason to drop Jigglypuff

Toon Link has had a few games already. The most recent game he was in was Spirit Tracks (and the Wind Waker remake [I assume the remake still refers him as Toon Link]), and A Link Between Worlds is coming out in a few weeks.
Oh, that's really "recent", huh? A Link Between Worlds don't count a Toon Link game I think.

Though it doesn't mean that Nintendo won't make any new game for WiiU/3DS after SSB4, I don't think adding a character to SSB without any new game can mean that Nintendo do take that series seriously.

Oh, sorry. But comparatively if Jigglypuff is a true star, hope that s/he can return to the TVseries.

yeah, but he wasn't in any previous Smash Bros. games

It's not going to be an alternate costume, it's going to be an alternate "form" of the character, like Zelda/Sheik or like Charizard/Squirtle/Ivysaur.

I doubt it. I think it will be a costume. However, the reason why there's different forms like Zelda/Shiek, and Samus/ZSS, is because they are different from each other. The two Wii Fit Trainers won't have that difference most likely.

I saw the picture, and was like "what the hell?" I thought it was a new character.

It'll probably be where you can either select Wii Fit Trainer (Female), or Wii Fit Trainer (Male). Like, not a clone character, nor a skin color, but more of something new.

...how would it work as a form? Is she going to have the ability to suddenly change her gender in the middle of the match or something?

oh dammit magikrazy

I'm pretty sure it's going to be a costume, like what Wario had in Brawl.

I'd think it'd be a:

1. Costume
2. Alternate Form
3. Or new character altogether

If he was a completely different character, or a "form" for that matter, I would think that he would have received his own page on the website. So I doubt it's anything but a costume.

Male Wii Fit trainer is coming too
As an alternate costume :P
If it's picking characters, female brawlers should be prior as far as possible (mostly for those games where you can choose your gender). In other characters, I was actually expecting for an animal girl representing Animal Crossing.

Also, if alternate textures are officially approved, they should give Daisy, Paula and some other characters a chance this time. Especially in DLC.

I actually just checked the website, and I agree.

Well, since this reskin is going to be male, there is probably going to be a different set of voice clips, which is a first in this series.

Hey Sakurai! How about...

STOP REVEALING HIDDEN CHARACTERS AND RUINING THE SURPRISE FOR US? THANK YOU.

Was Marth really a surprise?

Well besides the fact I think that this is the first reveal that has absolutely nothing to do with anything. When we thought Peach was revealed for no reason at all, it was actually Super Mario Bros. anniversary while every other character revealed outside of E3 was a tie-in to a certain game. As far as I know, Fire Emblem's next anniversary isn't until next year. And we all know Fire Emblem: Awakening's been out a long while. So yeah, Marth was announced out of the blue.

The question is, will we get Zelda this month as well? That's the character most expect would be revealed this month.
