post any random Mario thought on your mind

remember that "Rock TV" is a TV episode saying that watching TV is evil
Wait LOL is this like a joke referring to the "Rock TV" from the Super Mario World cartoon? Or is it just a personal funny joke you made up?

No that's actually what the episode is about

Reopened my NSMB2 save recently. As bland as most of it is, man the special worlds looked so cool. I dunno what prompted them to go for this abstract alt dimension style instead of the standard "island in space" that most Mario special worlds have, but they cooked. Just wish the levels followed the theme too.

Definitely not intended at all, but my headcanon is that the Warp Cannon shot Mario at such high speed that he entered hyperspace.

I've noticed the Koopalings have barely appeared in games during the Switch era, despite them appearing quite a lot since New Super Mario Bros. Wii throughout the 3DS and Wii U eras; they were in all the subsequent New Super Mario Bros. games, Mario Kart 8, Mario & Luigi games from Paper Jam to Bowser Jr.'s Journey and Paper Mario: Color Splash. As far as I'm aware, Smash Ultimate and Mario & Sonic at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games are the only Switch original games that have them. EDIT: They were included in an update for Super Mario Maker 2.

Someone needs to fix that. We need the Koopalings! They're great bosses.

They'll probably be funnier characters if they're allowed to interact with each other as family members (reton not withstanding). There's really quite a lot you can do with that dynamic.

Same could be said about the baby characters barely appearing in anything >_>

On another note, I have a feeling Nintendo have gotten tired of Peach being a captive a lot and are steering away from that. As far as I'm aware, Super Mario Odyssey, Luigi's Mansion 3 and Paper Mario: The Origami King are the only Switch original games where she needed rescuing at all.

I feel like Nintendo should redesign and bring back the penguin suit. As it is in NSMBWii and U it's just an ice flower with bonuses. Which is a shame because I really like both power ups

I feel like Nintendo should include more anthropomorphic animals, mermaids and mermen into Mario stuff. I feel like those three types of characters are heavily underutilized in the Mario franchise.

The Bullet Bill item in the Mario Kart series should have been a Banzai Bill. I don't know why you would have a big Bullet Bill in the literal sense, instead of using the design that boils down to that, predated Mario Kart DS by 15 years, and feels more appropriate to the size of the form granted.

Come to think of it, I guess Mario Kart will never have an item named "Banzai Bill", now that they ever-so-wisely gave it a more confusing and violent-sounding name…

Not sure what the general consensus is on this game, but Mario Golf : Super Rush was… actually fun? Maybe because I had never really played any of the prior golf games (Toadstool Tour and World Tour look really fun; I played TT for a little when I was like 8), maybe it's the lowered expectations after watching a video criticizing the game of how easy it became and also the underwhelming animations, maybe it's because I didn't own it lol but I got to play it at my sister's boyfriend's house and I was really addicted to it. And it's just the standard golf mode I'm talking about; I didn't really care for the stadium/rush modes and didn't get to try out the story mode. It could've done with more game modes, like at least tournaments, but the core gameplay is solid. It's really satisfying to do well on a hole and fight against the wind, and yes the new swing system might be too easy especially in the rough and bunker but also kinda broken in a way, it's pretty fun lol. Although it does seem that lining up the accuracy is randomly decided, which is not good. I understand people's complaints especially that it's a full priced game, and most of my praises could also be said about previous Mario Golf games but idk, I really liked the game, I guess I just really like golf games in general. I would unlock all the star characters if I could. :P

When you see Luigi, Daisy, Waluigi, Peach, Mario, and Wario eat food, especially something like donuts or oily food with their hands, with their gloves on, do they wash their gloves afterward or not.

This is the thing that gets me about the Penguin Suit. It's completely superior over Ice Flower in a way that other Mario powerups aren't.

The P-Wing versus Super Leaf, or the P-Acorn versus Super Acorn, both of them have their superior versions and in fact are rare, but they are one-time use and once you are done with a level, it reverts them to their unpowered states.

The Statue Leaf is superior to the Super Leaf in that there is one move that makes it superior but it's only available late-game, and even if so, it doesn't change the character's movement.

But the Penguin Suit not only has Ice Flower's ice projectiles, but also improves the character movement, especially underwater movement, making it completely superior. New Super Mario Bros. U remedied this somewhat by making it post-game, probably with the same idea as the Statue Leaf, but Penguin Suit still makes Ice Flower less valuable. I cannot say how Penguin Suit might be able to be balanced, because if they attempt to make movement more difficult on land, it might probably make it hated. Perhaps it's a good thing that there's no Fire Flower equivalent (Dragon Suit that has fireball projectiles, and increase aerial abilities, for example?).

With the recent release of a new Mario & Luigi game, it got me thinking: how would it be different if the series were instead titled Luigi & Mario? Every game would still be the same but Luigi is basically listed first. So it would be Luigi & Mario: Superstar Saga, Luigi & Mario: Partners in Time, Luigi & Mario: Bowser's Inside Story, Luigi & Mario Dream Team, Luigi & Mario: Paper Jam, and Luigi & Mario Brothership.

In theory this might not mean much but putting Luigi as the primary character might make Luigi the main attraction. In this sense it probably still fit the game because Luigi got a better level of focus since he got to do more, like entire chapters dedicated to rescuing Mario or meaningful interactions with certain characters like Starlow. But perhaps putting Luigi as secondary highlights his roles better so it might probably be a detriment to Luigi. Though perhaps listing Luigi first also has the effect of putting Luigi to the left of Mario (instead of Mario on the left, Luigi on the right).

Thank you for reading.

@winstein That is a very interesting concept. Despite the fact Luigi is one of the most beloved Mario characters, he still is kind of like Mario's shadow. Mario almost always gets the main focus and he (Luigi) usually doesn't except for Luigi's Mansion and (maybe, I don't exactly remember) a few or at least a couple of other things. I mean, it could make fans who like Luigi more happier if Luigi was the main focus. Me personally, I like them both equally. But some fans like the younger brother Luigi more.

Luigi is not an underdog character and hasn't been for years. He's not in Mario's shadow, he's practically sharing the spotlight with him.

Adding to this, Luigi is NOT a forgotten twin. Maybe he might not be in the spotlight like Mario, but calling him forgotten does a huge disservice to not only him, but actual forgotten twin characters like Mimmy White (Hello Kitty's twin sister). To elaborate on the latter point, saying Luigi is forgotten is like saying that he missed out on a lot of the spotlight, when Nintendo tends to put Mario and Luigi together a lot, and even give him some moments of his own.

The evidence is there! We have a series titled after Luigi (Luigi's Mansion) that is very popular, a series where he shares the spotlight with Mario (Mario & Luigi) and generally favours Luigi because I think the amount of memorable solo Mario moments (if he had any) are dwarfed by the amount of memorable solo Luigi moments, even has a year named after him and it will be remembered for years to come! Even the biggest Mario game series is titled Super Mario Bros., which shows that Luigi is part of the fame, and is shown to be able to accomplish the same things as Mario.

Luigi's not an underdog type character in the slightest. I dislike how the games (mainly the RPG ones) try to make you feel bad for him and think that poor Luigi isn't remembered or respected/liked by anyone with how he is treated like a butt monkey. Come on man, he's like the 2nd or 3rd most popular character in the series. He is pretty much a universally liked character. This is why I don't really feel bad for him when say, Starlow insults him or is mean to him in the past M&L games bc I know that he is loved by everyone in real life, and he isn't some poor sap who needs more love.

Ffs, he had a whole year to himself and fans of Luigi are telling me that he doesn't get enough attention or spotlight?

(Now don't get me wrong, I don't hate the guy and I actually like him more than his brother. But let's not pretend that he's an underdog)

EDIT: Sorry if it sounds like I'm all worked up over this. It's just that as someone who tends to like unpopular characters who can actually be considered underdogs, it kind of pisses me of seeing Luigi (of all characters) being called one

On an unrelated note...Oh ma god, McDonald's has a Pinkgold Peach toy as part of their MK8 lineup?

Oh ok that's great. Yeah I thought that was the case (that he was in his shadow) before and never thought that was fair because I equally like both of them. But I guess that's not the case and I'm glad about that. :luigi:👍

Yeah I'm glad about all that (that he's about as popular as Mario). I think that's fair and I think that's great, because I love him just like I do Mario.
