I was told I was stupid because I liked the Tape as a boss concept, and someone else compared liking "stupid" things like the Legion of Stationary to alcoholism and drug abuse (yes this one's a real comment, and that user who made that comment doubled down when called out on)
Point is, people get extremely toxic when they disagree with other people's tastes, as if they never learned what a difference of opinion is; admittedly, I'm not 100% innocent either since I also feel like I'm always on the defensive, such as some ass calling me "stupid" because I like something that he doesn't. When you got a series that goes in a very different direction than what it started out as, you'll split the fanbase apart and you create this toxic tribalism between people. I don't like generalizing fanbases like saying "oh the TTYD fans like their baby RPG games with stupidly dark plots" or "oh the Sticker Star are literal babies who don't know quality content", it's a false dictomony of people, there's nuance, there are shades of gray to liking games, you can be fans of both styles but like one style more than the other, and what not.
At the end of the day? It's all over a video game. None of the personal attacks that are lobbed are warranted in the slightest. Whoever lobbed the insults and threats against that aforementioned YouTuber can go fuck off. You can like and want the 64/TTYD style games, I do too. You can think of how to improve the series the way it is, you can want clothed original characters again. You can also like what the newer games did correctly. Nothing's perfect, everyone's different, and you are not stupid for liking the more extended focus on story that SPM has or liking the minimalist plot from Sticker Star. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, you play and enjoy the games, they're entertainment, they're meant to make you happy, not brood these toxic discussions.
