What Movies Have You Seen Recently?

Which one should I watch first? I got citizen kane, Nosferatu and 2001 a space oddisey

i dont know Nosferatu, but in the order of saving the best up for last, Nosferatu, 2001, and then Citizen Kane.

haven't seen nosferatu, but it's pretty hard to compare citizen kane and 2001 since they're both good in different ways. i think i'd say citizen kane is better, though

anyway. now that i've had some time to sleep and have a computer, let's talk about max max.

HOLY SHIT THIS MOVIE IS FUCKING INCREDIBLE.

Like, seriously. if you like action movies at all, please see this. I mean, I know I've been selling this as being "cars exploding for two hours", but not only is it cars exploding for two hours, but there is an actual plot. It's not complex, but it's thematically and emotionally strong, and I actually thought it was pretty powerful. The Mad Max series has provided some of the best looks at the apocalypse, and this one just has so many interesting ideas going on that it's just literally impossible to look away.

And that's not getting into the action. Like, the first half of this movie is fantastic, and the second half is just perfect. Most movies are lucky if they have even one action sequence that is as good as any of the ones in this movie, but George Miller continually finds new and inventive ways to blow shit up. And the designs! So many interesting designs! I mean, seriously. There's a blind bungee-jumping mutant playing a guitar that's also a flamethrower on top of a truck made out of amps and drums that's going at 70 kilometers per hour, and it was an actual, working prop that people rode, played, and fought on. And god, the movie is so beautiful. This is seriously one of the best-looking action movies you can find, right up with Pacific Rim and Minority Report. God. And it's so rare to find any movie where nearly all of the protagonists are female, let alone an action movie.

And don't even get me started on the music.

Just, please. See this movie. It's exhilarating. It's intense. It's breathtaking. It's everything you can hope from an action movie.

EDIT: I forgot the best part. You know that flamethrower/guitar playing guy? His name is The Doof Warrior. I'm looking at you, DragonFreak.

Pitch Perfect 2

I don't even know what to say, I'm speechless. One of the best movies I've ever seen, as good as the first one if not better <333

Pitch Perfect 2.

That movie, my god...much better than the original, and the original is amazing! I felt like they really nailed it with the jokes and the acting from most of the actors (I wasn't that big about legacy but meh). Fat Amy definitely did much better this movie than the previous one, and she really just topped it completely. I also love the song choices they did for the movie.

It was just an amazing movie all-around.

Maybe I should check out the original before seeing the second

Terminator 2

I don't understand what all the fuss is about, I did enjoy the Sarah Connor moments and the T-1000 is a cool villain, but it felt like watching any Schwarzenegger flick, and people have been saying Arnold gives a great performance? Ummmmmmm...he's just playing Arnold like always, what's different? (I thought he was great in Twins because it's the only Arnold film I love). Overall I thought it was okay but I don't consider it one of the best movies ever made like everyone was saying.

arnold gives a good performance here because he never shows any emotion, which makes him a perfect robot characteer

also silence, this movie is AMAZING in every way and no one can tell me otherwise. the action still holds up after all these years

The Empire Strikes Back

my immediate thought was that it was better than the first, but upon more reflection...

i don't know. it's very different from the first one. the first one is more about world building and mysticism, i guess, but the second one focused more on the characters (meaning: ten times more lines for chewbacca) and plot. which i liked, but it also felt like a completely different beast. plus, the movie in my opinion loses its steam and gets bogged down in the middle (get it? steam and bog? yeah...) i assume others would disagree, but the movie was firing on all cylinders when they escape from hoth and then cutting to yoda really slows down the movie's momentum.

i mean still, it's a great movie, those are rather small complaints. i just feel like i should mention them

that's understandable, i suppose. you have to think of the yoda parts as more world building - prior to this, people knew practically nothing about the force, and to actually learn about it was really interesting

it's also a bit of character development for luke, helping him learn more self-control and become less of the hotshot farmboy kid
