General Discussion

I've reorganized the boss section, merged those items sections together, and tried out having one move section with different colors (which doesn't look too terrible, imo).

The only thing is that red links look like, well, red links. And the one section of colourful links sticks out a bit. I was thinking more like this (Template:MASATOG), but with "(M)" and "(L)" (possibly coloured for extra emphasis) (which should be intuitive enough that no legend's required).

I've tried out both colored letters and letters ripped from the game, and now they're sitting side-by-side. I think the sprites look the best, personally, and it's not because of the time I spent actually getting those letters, honest.

I always supported using official imagery for stuff like.names and icons

Something like that make the Mario kart ds page and the Mario kart arcade gp 2 page look stylish while not being unprofessional. In my opinion anyway.

I noticed a slight inconsitency that may or may not be an issue. In the Wario Land series. The phases that Wario goes through like Fire Wario, Zombie Wario, etc. are not called the same throughout the Wiki. Wario Land 1, 4, and along with Master of Disguise are called "transformations" while in Wario Land 2 and 3, they are called "reactions". That is a little inconsistant, and I was wondering if it is even worth changing.

While I don't know enough to actually say for certain, it could just be different terminology between games. Standard policy, I believe, is to refer to things as what they're referred to in-game, which is why we have articles that link to Princess Toadstool instead of Princess Peach. You'd probably have to double-check that, but if they're called reactions in 2 and 3, leave them as reactions.

I don't actually know what they are called in-game, because no terminology exist in the game. Although, if anything the instruction manuals might say something. If they don't, then I don't know what to do then.

Some quick Googling led me to...

Wario Land - Power-Ups
Wario Land 2 - Conditions
Wario Land 3 - Reactions
Wario Land 4 - Couldn't find it
Master of Disguise - Disguises

There really doesn't appear to be a uniform name.

If you actually did that, I'd definitely leave Master of Disguise alone because reactions is a poor way of describing the change to the other forms in that game, unlike transformations or disguises.

If it's the official name, then I see no reason why it should not be used

Quick question about a character: I'm playing through an European version of ML:SS, letting me switch through languages. At one point, there's this Thwomp that hosts a luck game. In every language, he always introduces himself as "Thwomp" and its various translations... except in French, where he's called "Clonk". I do think he has enough of a substantial role to have an article, so... what do we call him? Policy says that he should be called "Thwomp", since that's his English name, but "Clonk" is a genuine name and not just a translation, and using that would help with distinguishing it.

In French version of Mario Kart 7 Shy Guy is called Maskache, so are you sure it's not a French name for the species?

Oh, okay. The case reminds me of Luma Comete; you can make a page on Clonk.

Let me ask about Template:The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Live and Template:The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Animated, since I happen to be working with them. Their names are rather cumbersome, and could be put into a more succinct abbreviation. I'm just not exactly sure what it would be, or even if I should. Would it be "TSMBSSA/TSMBSSL", to encompass the "The", or should it be "SMBSSA/L", like the already-existing Template:SMBSS (which I've rendered obsolete, but that's not that relevant right now)? Or because of the "Live" and "Animated" addendums, should they just remain as-is?

I'd actually argue that it's better to have a separate, auxiliary template for the two sets of episodes. MarioWiki:Navigation Templates specifically allows that sorta thing:
Another situation is when one or more of the subjects has been taken out of the main game template and given their own template. For example, {{NSMB2 Levels}} and {{MPDS Minigames}} are separate from the main {{NSMB2}} and {{MPDS}} templates, respectively. This partitioning should generally be avoided except for levels, and other cases where including the subject would greatly increase the size of the template
Soooo yeah, don't replace the original SMBSS template, please. (TaAoSMB3 and SMWTV, on the other hand, have much shorter runs, not to mention the lack of live-action accompaniment, so they can be merged eventually.)

As for the titles, abbreviations plus "Live / Animated" would probably be the way to go, like in the example auxillary templates from the above MW:NAV exerpt. As for whether or not they should include the "The" like in "Template:TAoSMB3 Episodes" or leave it out like the current Template:SMBSS, I feel like including the "The" would be better (so "{{TSMBSS Live}}" and "{{TSMBSS Animated}}"), with {{SMBSS}} even being updated to "{{TSMBSS Episodes}}" at some point for consistency (although that rename is much lower priority than other template bsns.)

So, with my assist trophy proposal passing, would there need to be something similar for the Pokemon, or can we scoot away with a cordial discussion?

Pokaymon doesn't encompass several series as Assist Trophies do. But again, we do have separate articles on Smash Bros.-related enemies, but we cover Super Smash Bros. fully, not necessarily... Pokaymon.

...Yeah, I think we can make a case for Pokaymon since the only difference between them and Assist Trophies are that they represent only one series. We can also change all those ugly light blue links into interwiki links, that's another plus.

Thanks, man! :) We also found some other crap online, like that collector's $200 First4Figures statue of Tanooki Mario. :O

I don't quite understand the existence of the category called Peach Items. It's not clear what exactly is a "Peach Item". There is no sense of organization other than they're items Peach uses/gives. If we're going to keep this article, why stop at Peach Items? Why not Category:Mario (character) Items, Luigi Items, Bowser Items, Wario Items, etc.?
