Come on guys, Waluigi's been deconfirmed. Give up.

Option 1.

For Smash Ultimate he's already been confirmed as an Assist Trophy, and as much as I want him to be playable, I think it should remain that way. But, I'm all for playable for Smash 6.

I think he should stay an assist, mainly because he is essentially the OG assist trophy at this point and should be the most prominent example for an assist trophy. So option 4.

Still wouldn't mind seeing him playable tho, especially after the meme has died down a bit. Wouldn't be very hyped tho, but happy for the fans of course.

Option one without hesitation. It's really a no-brainer, but I think he was left out of Ultimate because they were focusing on returning vets, so they had to prioritize the newcomers. Waluigi no longer fits as Assist Trophy when compared to the other Mario series assists: Lakitu, Hammer Bros., and Chain Chomp, just a bunch of generic enemies. It's sad what people have done to his reputation.

I chose the first option but if they can make him fit naturally as an echo, I'll take what I can get.

I hate how a minority in his fanbase took things too far and how media proceeded to write clickbait like "Waluigi fans" took things too far (no headline about the minority part) and made the Internet hate Waluigi. I swear mainstream media will search for one or two toxic people in a group just so they can twist their report that the whole group is toxic and negative. Aside from the small minority of harassers, it's mostly just Waluigi's meme status flaring up and that's not really anything new. I unironically like his design and personality and think he's an obvious staple to the franchise by now after being in so many spinoffs, the memes are just icing on that. Even if he's not got a chance in SSBU's main game anymore, it saddens me that 2 or 3 idiots taking it too far has soured the entire character and his entire fanbase for so many people.

Now you can taste the sourness of the Daisy fanbase.

I'm indifferent to Waluigi; I could take or leave him being in Smash. I wouldn't mind if he was a fighter, echo or original, but I'm not exactly going to be pressing for it either. He's never been a character I've been that invested in.

Good luck to Waluigi fans with him getting in some time.

I wonder if such a situation could happen to the main Mario characters. I have reason to believe that every Mario character have their super fans, but I felt like none of the main characters have the infamous reputation that either Waluigi or Daisy are associated with. For example, have you ever heard of how bad Yoshi fans are (Not saying that they are bad, but I am making a point here)?

I honestly think that the backbiting that happens is usually disheartening to me, speaking as someone who fancies Waluigi and Daisy over several Mario characters that are considered the "main" ones. There is even one thread here that is somehow still allowed to be around since I felt it violated one of the rules, and it's not in Mindless Junk (but since I am not a mod, I might not have the wisdom to determine if it's appropriate or not).

Thank you for reading.

Winstein my boy, I have heard many a horror story about Yoshi fans. I think the only Mario fanbase without at least a couple super weirdos is probably Mario himself at this point.

Baby Luigi has exactly one fan.

Daisy is a super popular case because a number of super-fans' dominant passion had essentially made it trendy to lampoon the character. Even on this very board, it's very evident. I can't imagine a widespread hate on Yoshi as a result of those super-fans that you elude to, though. Has anybody soured on Yoshi due to the Yoshi super-fans that you implied?

There are too many people with "Yoshi" in their username (including me) for Yoshi to receive widespread hate.

I do think Yoshi is a bit common in terms of usernames and whatnot (compared to other main characters like Mario, Luigi, Bowser etc, which I don't consider Yoshi quite on their level but he's certainly as common if not more than them) but I don't hate him or his fanbase. More like he's a neato character but I don't understand the widespread popularity on the level of say Luigi. Back when I didn't hate Toad (believe it or not there was once a time) I considered Toad and Yoshi kind of in the same "they exist" area.

Well to bring up the point I was making earlier on: has any major Mario character (using the Awards Poll as a reference: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Bowser, DK, Wario, Bowser Jr., Rosalina) had this sort of widespread hate that Daisy and Waluigi usually get?

Thank you for reading.

The thing is that neither of them was very popular in the first place. Daisy's just a pointless clone of Peach, while Waluigi isn't much more than a meme.

Based on what I understand from what you mentioned, it's because of their lack of popularity that made them widely disliked, which is why any efforts to put them in the spotlight felt undeserved. The other characters are well-liked, which is why they are popular. In fact, I am very coy in displaying my enjoyment with those characters. This assessment is the reason I wish Nintendo did more with Daisy and Waluigi given that they are featured more often than many other characters.

I don't think this statement is actually true. I feel that both of them have always been reasonably popular (even before the meme age of the internet), and that the only reason people dislike them now is the bad vocal minority of fans.

:tumble:

The Mario franchise has created many spinoff games, such as Mario Kart and Mario Party. How do you feel about how many games they have?
*It's not enough! There's room for even more spinoffs!
*I'm okay with how many there are, but I'd still like to see more.
*I don't mind how many spinoff games there are, but I think there's enough as is.
*I'd like to see Nintendo release fewer spinoff games in the future.
*There's too many already; Nintendo should stop making spinoffs entirely.
*I don't have an opinion.

There's never enough Mario spinoffs.

Let's remake Yakuman DS, and have a new DDR Mario game again, and (assuming EA won't flub this up) a new crossover basketball game with Mario and Kobe Bryant.

(the poll wording is a bit on the derpy side though, especially the one I want to pick, should probably make it sound less colloquial in the future. sorry about the negative feedback)

As a Mario fan, more spin-offs, more! As long as the major Mario characters don't have their own games yet, there aren't enough Mario spin-offs. Yes, that means Daisy and Waluigi should get their own games too.

I am glad that Mario Party is listed alongside Mario Kart, because I feel that Mario Party is underappreciated as it is.

Actually if possible, there should be a Mario board game series (as in, non-video game) because board games can be quite fun. Even the Mario-themed Monopoly has people claiming that it's legit.
